During this period, no other franchise earned more divisional playoff round appearances (7) and only Bill Belichick's New England Patriots exceeded Philadelphia's (5) conference championship game appearances with (6). Reid also sent 19 players to 44 Pro Bowl appearances, the highest total for any team in the NFL during that period. None of these players had ever appeared in a Pro Bowl before Reid was hired.

In other words, he's going to give us a CHANCE year in and year out.

Thats all that matters, just get into the tourney and suddenly the possibilities are endless.

Its been sooo long since we felt we had a shot every single year...

Interesting because this is going to be a long-term relationship with Reid. We're looking at him as the HC, most likely, for the next ten years.

The Franchise 01-03-2013 11:33 AM

It'll be interesting to see if Reid calls the plays himself or not. He stopped in 2006 and hasn't done it since.

Quote:

Mornhinweg masterminded the Eagles offense in the final six games of the 2006 season, and into the NFC Playoffs. Coach Andy Reid gave Mornhinweg the play calling responsibilities after the Eagles' disastrous loss to the Indianapolis Colts, 45-21. The Eagles won all six games, employing a more balanced run/pass attack. The wins included an unprecedented three consecutive December divisional road games, all with a back-up quarterback, Jeff Garcia. It was the only time Reid yielded play calling responsibilities, a role Mornhinweg continued through the 2007 season.

Assuming he isn't a complete embarrassment like Pioli, this true.

Reid, at the very least, will restore comfortable mediocrity in this town and that means a long-term tenure. :D

I really hope so with success & Super Bowls.

I want to see growth we can make huge stride in the next couple of years. The rebuild doing it right shouldn't take long & we can be in contention for titles.

Other teams defenses know that Reid never runs the ball so they can tee off the qb almost every down. Whoever our starter is he'll probably be hurt by mid season

Teicher on Mad Dog Radio was the most worthless beat writer interview ever.

Said "deal could get done, it might not" "Could happen today, could not".

Reid has already begun contacting members of the Eagles coaching staff. As Eskin said, Doug Pederson would be QB coach. I think Childress is going to be the OC. May not be any room for Shurmur.

If the deal with Reid is as far along as ESPN is reporting, he no longer has a lot of leverage because they're almost done.

It's much more likely that the mentions of SD and Arizona are just guys like Breer and Rapaport that have been wrong the whole time trying to stay the course in case something breaks down.

I know he failed miserably as a HC, but he loved the aggressive, attacking, 4-3 fronts in NYG. He was a good LBs coach in Philly. He learned Jim Johnson's schemes and incorporated them well in NY. Then he went to STL and failed pretty badly. And as an interim HC, he still failed pretty badly. But when he went back to DC in NO, they recovered nicely and finished the year much better.

Yeah, he got ripped by a NOLA player recently, but players are idiots and someone's always bitching.

I think Spags would be a really nice fit as a DC here.

If you want the next Jim Johnson, Spags is as close as they come.

You're probably right. I'd be open to Spags. But, I also think the Chiefs need more talent on defense.

He is probably closest to Jim Johnson because he is his disciple and learned a lot under him.

I'll admit as much as Johnson's defenses were successful, he also had the players. He was stacked with talent. All of those guys like Lito Sheppard, Troy Vincent, Bobby Taylor, Hugh Douglas, Corey Simon, Brian Dawkins, Jeremiah Trotter were great players.

I don't know if the chiefs can match that talent.
