Looks like they have a pretty decent shot at finishing 3rd in the division. Is that the highest since 2003? Baby steps…..

We have a 6.5 game cushion over fourth. I don't think that we could drop that far if we tried.

7 of the last 20 or so games are against Detroit who is neck and neck with CWS for the division.

Here's to pissing in someone's cereal. :thumb:

If the Royals had just gone .500 over that 12 game losing streak, they would currently sit at 71-71, and would be 5 back of Chicago with 20 games to play:crybaby:

Someone should analyze our starting pitching during that 12 game stretch. I wonder how bad it was? I know HochaTurd took the winds out of everyones sails with the home opener.

It actually wasn't that bad. Here are the results from the streak:

A's
L - 1-0
L - 3-0
L - 5-4 (this is the Broxton/hit-batter to win it in extras game)

Indians

L - 8-3 (Puke start)
L - 11-9 (Lost in 10th)
L - 9-3

Tigers

L - 3-2
L - 3-1
L - 4-3

Blue Jays

L - 4-3
L - 9-5
L - 5-3

So, really, aside from the Cleveland series, the starting pitching was not awful. There were a ton of anemic offensive efforts from the Royals, and they lost 3-4 games late.

It's not surprising to see how bad a lineup with Jeff Francoeur, Humberto Quintero, early-season Jarrod Dyson (who was awful), and Yuni Betancourt as regular starters was, though.

What if they didn't play like a double A team back in July?

Demonpenz 09-13-2012 07:33 PM

Butler is a great hitter.
