An Ode to the King


He stared down at Arrowhead! King Carl popped his eyes!
Then he shook! What he saw was a shocking surprise!

Every fan down in Arrowhead, the tall and the small,
Was cheering! Without any Championships at all!

He HADN’T stopped fandom from coming! IT CAME!
Somehow or other, it came just the same!

And the King, with his King-feet ice-cold in the snow,
Stood puzzling and puzzling: “How could it be so?”

“It came with out Mannings! It came without sacks!”
“It came without Brady's, middle linebackers or cornerbacks!”

And he puzzled three hours, till his puzzler was sore.
Then the King thought of something he hadn’t before!

“Maybe fandom,” he thought, “doesn’t come from a cold hearted GM.”
“Maybe fandom…perhaps…is different to them!”

And what happened then? Well…in Kansas City they say,
That the King’s small heart Grew three sizes that day!

And the minute his heart didn’t feel quite so tight,
He signed his resignation in the bright morning light,

And he brought back the fans! And the hope for a Super Bowl!
And he, HE HIMSELF! The king was no longer in control !

Carl,
You have received your fair share of scrutiny over the past few years, especially from this bb. I must say some of it was deserved, all things being equal. Over the last few years we have seen our beloved Chiefs fall into the cellar.

However, I must thank you. If it was not for you, I seriously doubt there would be the sheer number of fans that support the club the way we do, myself included. You brought this club from the depths of the NFL to a premier team. A team that was unbeatable at home and was always at least .500 on the road. You brought in people like Marty, Okoye, Montana, Marcus, Derrick, Neil and so forth.
When I think of the teams that were assembled under your watch from 1989-2000 I can't help but get a chill.

With that being said, over the last 8 years, I must say was pure douchebaggery. The run we made with Vermeil, while exciting, was nothing but a flash in the pan. It was a nice try but due to that epic wad-shooting, you leave this club in turmoil. I wish you the best. Don't the the door hit you on the ass.
