WRT Welker, he is the guy who converts for NE, with Moss as the big play man. TG is kind of a hybrid of those two things. Plus TG makes a butt load of receptions, not unlike Welker.

What we need is that burner. Maclin would be a great asset.

With regards to TG, as I said, I'm not knocking him. But he'll be the upgraded version of Ben Watson. His job will be to block (TG won't like that....), and to be the 'stretch' player in the middle of the field.

Think of the passing tree as something like this, assuming they stay true to the basic design:

Welker - short passes over the middle, screens, blocking
Moss - Screens, medium and deep passes on the outside
Gaffney - Short and medium passes on the outside, blocking
Watson - Medium and 'deep' passes over the middle, blocking

Right now, the Chiefs have the Watson and Gaffney roles filled.

According to NFLN the Broncos were considering a trade of Jay Cutler for Matt Cassel!?!?

OMG...

Hammock Parties 02-28-2009 03:02 PM

Hey, what if the CHIEFS want to trade Cassel for Cutler?

DARE TO DREAM

OMG...

Patriots (and, by extension, McDaniels) quarterbacks have to have certain skills. McDaniels might not think Cutler has them. It's crucial that a Patriots quarterback have what I call 'scan and pan' ability. By that, I mean the ability to read the field immediately, almost before consciously reading it. This is vital, because the routes aren't normal routes. They are determined and how the defenders are playing.

Don't you EVEN tell me how I'm supposed to feel about this. Who the **** do you think you are?!

I might warm to this guy with some wins and signs that he's the real deal, but until then; he's on the bubble.

You're a Chiefs' fan, geni(o)us!

Complaining about this trade after the last 20 years is like throwing a fit because someone cut in front of you at KFC after spending the last three months getting gang raped by silverback apes in the jungle.

It sucks, I don't like it, but as far as ****ings go this one doesn't even make the list...

Are you a ****ing child?

ArrowheadHawk 02-28-2009 03:14 PM

I personally like this trade. A high drafted QB is always a risk. This much less so. As long as we don't have to pay him like Peyton Manning.

Also Hamas.....Just kill yourself. Or find a new team.

tk13 02-28-2009 03:15 PM

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if we drafted a QB on the second day.

I think what gets lost in the comparisons to Bono, etc... is that you do have to remember that this is a guy Pioli scouted and drafted. This is not like several other situations where someone liked another team's backup, this was a guy Pioli scouted extensively himself, and watched developed up close. That doesn't guarantee anything but Pioli definitely has a more thorough evaluation of this guy than any other team does.

cdcox 02-28-2009 03:15 PM

Just saw this. Well, it's obvious Pioli is not going to go about building this team like I would. I'm not pretending in the least to think I know better. But it really kills any ability to speculate about what the team might or might not do when the Chiefs are obviously on a completely different wavelength. Not much more to do but to sit back and hope they put together a good team that's fun to watch. They seem to have a definite plan. It seems like they intend to get better fast. Not really excited about Cassel but it looks like he's our man.
