8-2?

The two loses being pullout bullshit wins by Texas, BTW. Missed extra points one year and a DJ strip fumble on Roberson in another.

I'm more concerned as for now till our next game, teams between the 7-12 rankings spots.

It helps K-State that teams like OU and Clemson losing, IMHO. *shrug*

OSU needs to lose to OU for both OSU and KSU to share. If OU ends up winning tonight, they still need to beat OSU for all 3 to share.

Only for auto-birth.

If all 3 are tied, KSU kicked to side for 0-2 record, OSU kicked aside for h2h.

But all 3 would be Big 12 champs.

Co-signed.

I honestly had us pegged a 6-6 or 7-5 team at best. They more than hell have exceeded my expectations, and I, for one, am not going to bitch about it, at all.

And I also thought that Bill Snyder's return to the sideline could do more harm than good. I, too, was wrong on that, big time. Whenever Bill Snyder does decide to call it quits for good, the College Football Hall of Fame should just automatically wave the ****ing 5 year waiting period, and just give it to him right on the ****ing spot.

I guess if OSU beats OU. But everything has already gone right for this team... so who knows. Nice season

KevB 11-19-2011 11:11 PM

This team just finds ways to win. Earlier someone said Texas deserved this game. No. In a tight, defensive battle, many times it comes down to turnover margin. We were plus 2, with zero turnovers. We were barely penalized either. Tough sledding on offense, but D and special teams did their jobs so we won. Other games offense picked up the D. Just an absolute TEAM, and hell of a fun team to root for.

notorious 11-19-2011 11:13 PM

The old Big 12 conference rules states that they go by head-to-head as a determining factor.

I am an OSU fan next week. That gives us the best chance at a BCS bid. The conference is lost.

Coach 11-20-2011 12:03 AM

All right, what exactly is the best scenerio for Kansas State to get a BCS at-large bid?

One, is to win against Iowa State, that I know much. Other than that, what exactly would have to happen in order to increase K-State's chances of getting a BCS at-large bid?

OU loses.

We would have an excellent chance, then. And we would probably draw the Big East, since KSU is not a big TV draw and neither is the Big East.

58kcfan89 11-20-2011 02:16 AM

Not to dump on the BCS thing (although I'd be happy with a Cotton appearance), but if OU beats oSu (and OU/KSU don't lose to ISU...), it'd be:

1. OU 10-2 (7-2)
1a. oSu 10-2 (7-2)
1b. K-State 10-2 (7-2)

I know the BCS/Fiesta bid would go to the dirt thieves, but could we claim a co-championship?

Cause that'd be some upside if OU wins.

Either way, I'm glad we have a week off to rest up, maybe get a bit more healthy before playing at home (against a team that isn't nearly as talented as any of the last 4).

This team has probably taken 5 years off my life, but damn it's fun to watch. Frustrating. But fun.

Dante84 11-20-2011 03:42 AM

Just got home.

As a new Austin resident, I adopted UT as my team-away-from-home. Purple til I die, and I may as well root for UT while I'm down here, has been my philosophy.

That being said - I've been witness to every home game this season. Not in the stadium, but in the town, and on 6th street post game.

Holy Shit. Purple represented very, very well. I had 10 friends in town, and it seemed like everywhere you went, there were more State fans than UT fans. Loved it.

Anywho- so leaving the stadium (which we own), we stopped at a tailgate to watch RG3 pee on OU's face. And Pee he did.

As we circumnavigated the stadium, pondering our BCS chances, those in front of us started running to a bus.... we thought we would miss a free ride, which is awesome when drunk, so we ran too.

Eventually we figured out why we were running.

It was because the ol' man himself was out, had shaking and taking pics. Good stuff.

After that, we chatted with some of the players, who were just standing around, bs'ing with whoever wanted to BS.

AD Curry walks up and starts chatting with us, unsolicited. "What year did you all graduate?" "Are you all coming to the Iowa State game?" "Are you each going to bring 3 friends to the Iowa State game?"

Dude was great. I thanked him for signing Frank, and for having such a great season and representing us so well in the Big 12.

Then I got way drunker on 6th. And now I'm going to bed.

****in' great night. EMAW.

OU and OSU are playing for the title next week. If OSU wins, that puts us in 2nd, and we also need Houston and Boise to lose to give us a better chance at a BCS Bowl.

OU plays ISU next week, OSU the following week. Regardless of next week, if OU beats OSU and KSU beats ISU, a trophy is coming to Manhattan. All the other stuff is deciding the Big 12 auto-berth.

I need a link or ESPN to confirm. The Old North/South title rules #1 Tie breaker was head to head between 3 teams just like the BCS tie breaker.

If you are right, do you want a conference title or a shot at a BCS win?

kstater 11-20-2011 08:24 AM

Easily, Conference title.
That tiebreaker was just used to determine qualifier for CCG.

kstater 11-20-2011 08:28 AM

I'm just relieved to have won against big bad Texas and all their unfair recruiting advantages.

notorious 11-20-2011 08:37 AM

I would love to have a conference title, but at this point I would rather get 2nd in conference and get a BCS matchup against the Big Least.

KSU was a play away from winning the Big 12.........

Of course, we are 4-5 plays away from having 5-6 loses, so I will not complain too much. :D

Al Bundy 11-20-2011 08:48 AM

I would rather see Kansas State in a BCS bowl than Oklahoma but if Oklahoma wins that bedlam they will get the second invite.

This is what I was thinking... I know we can't get the Big 12 automatic BCS bid, but I'm fairly certain we could get a (co) Big 12 Championship trophy if oSu goes down and we beat ISU....

Either way, this is fun to even talk about. Who the hell had us in the top 12ish of the BCS rankings this late? But if we get shoved out of the BCS for Houston or Boise, I'm going to be REALLY pissed off....

And for those who don't know, we've had BCS reps at a handful of games this year. Sugar & Fiesta reps were at the A&M game and I'm willing to bet we have someone at the ISU game.

Unless I'm mistaken Fiesta should be out because that is the auto-bid for the Big XII's conference winner.

oSu sits at #4 (or at least is projected to) and still has an outside chance at making the National Title game, in which case the Fiesta would have 2 at-large bids available. Not likely, but possible.

My friend & I tried to figure it out last night, and unless I totally screwed it up (I probably did), our best shot at a BCS game would be if oSu beats Oklahoma. Our chances would get even better if the Pokes made the NC, because the SEC could only take 2 BCS spots as opposed to 3 if it's LSU-Bama in the NC.

Thing is, even if oSu beats OU, the most likely scenario (IMO) is an LSU-Bama NC game. In which case, you're looking at at-large bids likely going to Arkansas, Stanford and the last spot between K-State, Boise and Houston. Unless the other 2 lose, I can easily see BSU or UH getting in over K-State.

And of course, this is all dependent upon no upsets and K-State taking care of business against the Tornado Birds.

Bottom line, we need a lot of stuff to go right to make a BCS game. I'm glad Currie seems to be pretty damn impressive to most of these bowl reps and feel like we'll be in a good spot regardless of the other games. I'd love to see us in a BCS game, but the Cotton would be a nice consolation (plus, I'd be able to go to the game lol). Now, if we end up in San Antonio for the Alamo, I'm gunna be a little pissed off....

kstater 11-20-2011 03:49 PM

SEC can only get 2 unless Georgia wins the conference title game and they still are 1/2 in the BCS.

The way I understand it, if it's some combination of LSU/Bama/Arkansas as #'s 1 & 2 at the end of the year, they can have 3....

Quote:

These at-large selections can be granted to any FBS team, even those that aren't members of the six BCS conferences, though no conference may have more than two BCS teams in any given year with the sole exception being if two at-large teams from a BCS Conference finish No. 1 and No. 2 in the BCS Poll, they will qualify for the National Title Game while a third team from the conference will play in another BCS Game.
