I was thinking about the Parade today. I live in St Joseph. It would be cool if they brought all the player into town for training camp parade style. It would be warm and could have a second parade. Thoughts?

It was the same damn defense on the field that held us to 10 points through the first 51 minutes of the game. They didn't put their backups in. We scored 21 points in the final 8-ish minutes. That's us ripping the game away from them, not them choking it away. And it was our same defense out there that gave up 20 points and a lot of big plays until that final 8 minutes. The 49ers were still playing their starters on offense too. Regardless of the play calling, we made the plays to stop them. Jimmy G was having an MVP type game, until he wasn't. Patrick Mahomes and the entire Chiefs team just manned the **** up, and ripped the Lombardi trophy away from the 49ers, while stomping on their neck. If the 49ers choked, it's because we were crushing their wind pipes with our cleats. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk |

I watched the replay of the Ravens Chiefs game on CBS Sportsnet tonight. Boy our defensive secondary sure played like shit in the 4th quarter.
|
It seems the national narrative is the 49ers lost the Super Bowl & not the Chiefs won it.

I dont think we should worry about Mahomes being slighted too much. Two years as a starter he's already got 2 AFCCG appearances. 1 NFL MVP trophy. A Super Bowl MVP trophy. And a Super Bowl championship. Not a bad start. |

****OFFICIAL Chiefs vs 49ers Super Bowl LIV Game Thread****
Quote:
Maybe...maybe not. Examples: 1) On the first Sunday in February, as the San Francisco 49ers were in the middle of blowing a lead in the Super Bowl, a small group of doctors in the Bay Area was too busy to care about a football game. 2) The 49ers were 7:13 away from being crowned world champions. Holding the Chiefs’ powerful offense to a measly 10 points through the first 53 minutes of Super Bowl 54, San Francisco was a stop on 3rd-and-forever away from putting the game out of reach for good. The NFL’s best pass defense, with a pass rush that had harassed Patrick Mahomes all night and a secondary that had picked him off twice, surely wasn’t going to be beaten in that situation. Well, you know what happened next… Tyreek Hill found himself wide open for a 44-yard reception that sparked a 21-0 run for the Chiefs — and gave Kansas City its first Super Bowl title in five decades. Lucky break or bad defense? 3) Suffice to say, the 49ers’ collapse was a team-wide phenomenon Sunday. Through three quarters, they were the team they were all season. And then things crumbled in the fourth quarter against an outmatched Chiefs team struggling to keep their head above water. Who’s to blame for this collapse? There were too many mistakes, variables and people involved for all the blame to fall on one individual. But that’s what the 49ers will have to sift through this offseason as they look to get back to the Super Bowl next year. 4) One of the first questions that always arises whenever a team loses a championship game is "Who?". As in who should be the focus of the blame for the loss? That has been the main topic of discussion when trying to decipher what went wrong for the 49ers in their Super Bowl collapse to the Chiefs. Who is it that should be at the forefront when pointing the finger as to why the 49ers gave up a 20-10 lead? Everything that needed to go wrong for the 49ers became reality. To say that Shanahan or one facet of the team is responsible would be incredibly unfair. 5) https://youtu.be/gbJvEHfKhaU 6) https://youtu.be/XnPVw7tmDmk 7) https://youtu.be/NG7QnFefKu8 |
Anyone got a video link to the war room after the Texans drafted Watson but wanted Mahomes? The look on O’Brien’s face was amazing. I can’t seem to find it.

It came on the other day on NFL Network, and I watched it for a third time. I realized that it's like Ferris Bueller's Day Off or Apollo 13. Any time I'm flipping the channels and it's on, I'm going to stop and watch it.

This breakdown happened courtesy of our friend, Brett Kollman, in the week leading up to the Super Bowl. However, it's one of the rare occasions our defense got the love it deserved for its massive improvements in the second half of the season. Kollman does an excellent job of explaining how Spags found the perfect players to execute his system and the improvements the players had through the year that allowed them to understand their responsibilities. It's a phenomenal breakdown and deserves a watch. However, he also goes into detail and provides analysis about how Chris Jones remained our biggest liability against the run through the season. He also shows how Spags began to position Hitchens in a different part of the field because of Hitchens struggle to shed blockers. Despite that, he remains very high on his praise throughout the video. |

In about the 300 posts of misery from Mostert’s Touchdown to WASP, there were some real gems.
Iowanian was consistent from the beginning. This was around the time when the 49ers were facing 2nd and 9 up 20-10 (with around 10 minutes remaining from their own territory. Hitchens ended up putting a huge hit on Jimmy on this play). Quote:

Spags not only forced a stop down 20-10, but he'd go on to get three more stops in the game. The offense gets all of the attention for the playoff comebacks, but the defense was arguably as instrumental in all three. Last post.. Ghak posted this maybe a play before Watkins 38 yard bomb over Sherm to give the Chiefs 1st and Goal from the 10 with 3:30~ remaining. Quote:

I mean, I wasn't feeling great about our chances after Pat's second interception either, but... to give up completely? It's like, did you even watch the other two playoff games? Does anyone enjoy reading Super Bowl Gamethreads from non-partisan fanbases? This might be just a weird thing I do, but here are some of my favorites:
Packers Subreddit Overwhelmingly Pro-Chiefs. Sort by new and scroll all the way down to read it in sequence. Fans were deliciously salty after losing to SF and were gleeful for Mahomes’ comeback and Andy finally getting a title with his connection to GB: https://www.reddit.com/r/GreenBayPac...isco_49ers_vs/ Red Sox (Patriots overlap - fans were slightly pro 49er but split because they didn’t want the 49ers having 6 titles): https://sonsofsamhorn.net/index.php?...-thread.29438/ Browns (Largely Pro-Chiefs - felt our fan bases were kindred spirits): https://www.dawgsbynature.com/2020/2...q97g*#comments Steelers (Slightly Pro-Chiefs, many didn’t want the 49ers having 6 titles): https://steelersdepot.com/2020/02/49...ussion-thread/ A Seattle fan compares Chiefs and 9er fans live reactions and takes glee in the 9ers defeat. As a bonus, they include some Denver fans melting down too: https://www.fieldgulls.com/2020/2/4/...s-fan-meltdown Seattle’s Subreddit Hugely pro-Chiefs. Seattle fans were delightfully salty about the 49ers throughout the game and were overjoyed about the outcome. One redditor even claimed to donate to a KC charity after the game: https://www.reddit.com/r/Seahawks/co...tm_name=iossmf This Spurs fan forum is a weird place. People from all football fanbases are active in the discussion here. A Bostonite Patriots fan throws a lot of racism at Patrick pand is joined in by a 49ers fan who is oh so confident that the 49ers were going to roll the Chiefs. Seeing these losers react after the game makes this thread worthwhile. https://www.spurstalk.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=283029 Detroit fans all somehow concluded that Matt Stafford would have played better than Jimmy G. and Mahomes in the Super Bowl. Reading the Detroit threads made me kind of sad, and reminded me that elementary school me once thought Trent Green was a Top 5 QB: https://www.prideofdetroit.com/2020/...hiefs-vs-49ers Here is the Texans one. Even though they were decidedly anti-Chiefs, unlike the Patriots or the Bronco reactions - they weren’t crying about the refs the whole time (which gets old). They were pissed at the outcome but strangely a larger percentage their fans (compared to us) never counted out the Chiefs because many were saying “remember 24-0”, it’s an enjoyable read: https://www.battleredblog.com/non-te...hiefs#comments While not a gamethread, here is a thread from the Ravens subreddit where they concede that they feel the Chiefs would have beat the Ravens had they met in the playoffs: https://www.reddit.com/r/ravens/comm...avens_wouldve/ Jets game thread, this one is awesome. One of their fans chimes in with these predictions right before kickoff: Quote:
https://www.ganggreennation.com/2020...iv-game-thread Last but not least - The Eagles gamethread. They were overwhelmingly Pro-Andy and over the moon when he won. They are all unanimous that Reid found a QB who balances out his weaknesses. Many talked about feeling happier than they ever imagined they would after Andy won it all: https://www.bleedinggreennation.com/...s-nfl-football What's cool about all of these reactions was that there were a few commonalities throughout the fanbases. All of them were excited about the game (and widely agreed the two best teams in the NFL made the Super Bowl). Andy was universally praised for his early aggressiveness while Shanny Jr. was universally panned for playing it safe. Everyone argued about the halftime show. The reaction to WASP was like the shot heard round the football world, it's amazing how many non-partisan fans thought it was immediately a game again when Patrick connected with Tyreek. They all were universally stoked that Andy finally got his ring after Fuller's interception - which was awesome to see throughout each fanbase. |

You have to outscore us, NFL. Quit acting like your OMG PHISKLY TUFFFF! popgun offense and defense is the way to go. You can't just limit the time Mahomes is on the field, because he's just going to score on you anyway when he gets the ball. You have to score more points than us. Period. That would seem like an obvious statement, but too often I see teams employ this idiotic strategy of, "Try to stop the Chiefs offense" instead of just scoring whichever and whatever way you can. |

He said he was sick and tired of people coming over and telling him to keep firing, and it's not over. He said I knew it wasn't over, when has anyone ever seen me act like a game was out of reach? He said he was glad that he was able to keep his composure though, because he was really just mad at himself for how poorly he had been playing. The kid is just different. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk |
I remember that exchange with Moore. Mahomes was like "man, just shut the **** up". He was definately irritated. You won't see that again, only FROM him.
It's still surreal that we got this guy, with Andy Reid. |
Quote:
But, it was so mature of him to realize that he was really just upset with himself for playing poorly, and not that he was mad at people for encouraging him. I tried to find the article that included these quotes, but there were obviously so many written that I will never find it. I should have bookmarked it, but at the time I was just reading everything. I wish I had bookmarked a lot of articles and videos. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk |
