Surprised this story about Glass and spending did not get posted today.

Hearing them say they need to add three No. 3 pitchers is a little disconcerting. I'd rather see one of those guys be a true No. 2-caliber guy, but any movement is positive.

Anibal Sanchez
Jeremy Guthrie
Kevin Millwood
Jake Odorizzi
Bruce Chen

That might be good enough to be in the mix in the Central next year. It certainly would have been THIS season.

I'm more worried about convincing guys to sign in KC than Glass spending the money. Every time they really stick their neck out in FA guys sign elsewhere for less or use the Royals to leverage an offer. So they're stuck taking expensive risks like Meche or Guillen.

Words don't mean anything to me. Actions speak louder. Hochever needs to go away as well as Francour. Also need a TOP OF THE LINE starter, NOT 3 #3's!

Glass is a moron. Don't cheapen the ****ing value of this organization by settling for 3 #3's! Get a ****ing top of the line starter!

Deberg_1990 09-24-2012 08:29 PM

If they retain Hochevar I might be done as a fan for awhile.

Yeah, I have the same feeling about it. Don't settle for three guys like Guthrie.

Greinke is the only true ace that's available as a FA at this point, and I'm not sure how realistic that is.

Grabbing one of the second tier guys (Edwin Jackson, Anibal Sanchez) would be an OK consolation prize, though.

Being open to the trade market will be important, too. Nabbing this offseason's Gio Gonzalez is probably the best shot at getting a more elite starter, and I still think that can be done without giving away Myers or Odorizzi (might cost Bubba Starling, but he's so far away - and has such a low floor - I don't care).

I feel that way about Francoeur starting in right field next year. Did we beat the Tiggers tonight? Wasn't on the tube here in KC area tonight
