Yeah, the Dodgers probably ought to go get Lester in an attempt to shore up that rotation. Christ.

Trading Kemp right now makes the team worse. Adding a pitcher for kemp, still makes them worse as they have trouble scoring at times. Its the playoff run, they need bullpen help. It is the main area of need. Unless you count a 5th starter as crucial.

If i were the DOdgers, i'd give the Royals, Either and Crawford for peanuts lol

Because he has 5 years left on his contract and is owed $107 million over that time frame. Even if you chop that in half, that's an enormous and risky commitment for a player's age 30-34 seasons, especially when that player hasn't gotten through a season healthy in 3 years.

Angels just took a 2-1 lead of Detroit in the bottom of the 8th.

Angels beat the Tigers 2-1. Still 5 back of the Tigers.

Jose Guillen was 32 when Moore inked him to a 3-year deal worth $12M per, so I would see 5 at $11Mish per as a hell of a lot less risky for Kemp. Plus, Kemp's upside is tremendously higher than Guillen's ever could have been.

Kemp's highest season WAR: 8.2
Guillen's greatest season WAR: 4.7

Every contract is risky, no doubt, but I don't see this as substantially worrisome at all.

Sorry that might be a little harsh. I didn't see the game today. Did Crow get in?

Do you really think Dayton Moore looks at WAR? Based upon some of his comments in years past, I don't think so.

No, I think DM turns on the History Channel when someone asks him to consider WAR.

Yeah, but there are some key differences:

1) 3 years vs. 5 years. Risk is smaller due to the number of years.

2) Kemp has been hurt in 2012, 2013 and 2014. The injury in 2012 was a pretty significant hamstring tear that he doesn't seem to have ever come all the way back from.

I'm not opposed to trading for Kemp (in fact, I'm strongly interested in it). Just needs to be the right deal that balances things out for KC.

ROYC75 07-27-2014 09:08 PM

I know it won't happen, but just give me Byrd !

ChiefsCountry 07-27-2014 09:23 PM

If the Royals were a NBA team we would have some great assets to trade with the expiring contracts we have in Shields, Aoki, and Butler.

CaliforniaChief 07-27-2014 09:24 PM

Byrd is probably more realistic than Kemp, so it MAY happen.
