Getting into the playoffs is the key, if you get into the playoffs, anything can happen. Additionally it gives the fans a chance to be excited about something, it makes the team more lucrative to potential free agents, because lets face it, who REALLY wants to come here right now? To be part of a loser? If the Chiefs can win 10 games next season, I'll consider it a success and something to build upon.

That's bullshit.
In today's NFL, if you don't have a QB that can step up and make plays against legitimate playoff defenses that can bring pressure, you have no shot at advancing to the SB.
Alex Smith ensures 5 years, or more, of mediocrity.
Playoffs, get bounced, lather, rinse, repeat.
