Quick promotion for Lamb...

PEBBLES OF KNOWLEDGE:
While no game result came about on Monday, major news still hit with a roster move announced by the Kansas City Royals. Southpaw John Lamb has been promoted to Wilmington from Low-A Burlington (MWL). The seventh-best Royals prospect blessed with the system's "Best Control", both accolades according to Baseball America, was a fifth-round pick in 2008. He is scheduled to start Friday night's homestand opener against Myrtle Beach.

The 19-year-old went 2-3 and posted a 1.58 ERA over eight starts with the Bees to open this season. He struck out 43 men over 40.0 IP and walked just 17. Midwest League hitters connected at a slim .188 clip against the California native. Lamb struck out as many as nine batters in a single outing at Low-A, and tossed seven scoreless innings for a win in his final such start against Peoria on Saturday.

Apparently, fellow starter Jairo Cuevas had been on the disabled list since May 11 with right shoulder inflammation. Lamb's addition brings the Blue Rocks active roster to the league maximum of 25.

Surely that's not the "big move" that Greg Schaum was tweeting about last night, the one that would "create national discussion."

Dang.

Dude is making a strong case for a call up to AAA in the second half.

No that can't be it.

My guess is either Montgomery or Arguelles is promoted to KC.

Demonpenz 05-18-2010 09:21 AM

I wouldn't be against just bringing everyone up if they are mature enough. let's go......

Yikes.

Why the rush (if this would be the case)?

Has Arguelles even pitched this year?

I'd be leery about promoting Monty. His control has dipped since his promotion.

because we rush the players we shouldn't and hold the players back we shouldn't that is the process.

We're all excited about the process, but part of the process is understanding that it is indeed a process.

Both of those promotions would be among the very worst decisions that Dayton will have ever made.

Schaum tweets an hour ago:

best to find out more. If this move happens, I imagine it happens sooner than later but never said 24 hours *sooner meaning days not weeks)

Maybe, but who knows how we would use either, and it's tough to speculate too much on Arguelles considering we've never even seen him much.

Can anyone think of another move that would have everyone talking like Schaum is suggesting?

Kila up, Guillen DFA'd? Or Gordon up, Pods/DeJesus traded?

With how well Moosetacos has done thus far this season, we'd be speculating about his call up, if this were the Baird years.

Also, a DeJesus trade could well be in the works.

I think that this Greg Schaum is full of shit about this.

Maybe, think he said there would have to be two player moves first to make this happen.
