This looks damn accurate

The best use of PFF is to print that stuff off and then use it to wipe your ass. They are absolutely, positively worthless

Some of that is because they are use to teams keeping the status quo, that and well an east coast based station is probably tired of the KC market mattering.

According to Overthecap:

2023-$5.8 million
2024-$24.725—>can restructure to free $12 million
2025-$24.725—>can restructure to free $9 million
2026-$24.725—>can save $20 million with $4.75 million dead cap. Could also extend him to lower cap hit.

Veach and Tillis with another masterclass deal structure. Lot of flexibility. No wonder Clark loves the guy

Yeah just posted in the Tunsil thread that KC could essentially restructure this guy twice and he’d count for the $40mm in the first three years at a cost of a little more than $13mm/avg per year.

It's about ratings. If he said the Chiefs find value at tackle nobody is interested. Most fans understandably want Kansas City to get worse. They are going to be drawn to headlines like this and that's all Skip cares about.

I listened to the segment and I don't know what there is to disagree with.

Most teams don't do it.
It's risky.
He's been a good RT but not great.

Barnwell also says the Chiefs (and Andy Reid in particular) deserve the benefit of the doubt.

On the flipside, I'd argue that he had his best season and is ascending (whereas you couldn't say that about OBJ). And there weren't a lot of obvious options so the team needed to get creative like this.

For sure. But this is just the kind of thing a team like KC, who will always be drafting at the end of the rounds, will have to do to try to get a real high end LT. They're gonna have to take some risks and or just hit a draft and develop guy later.

Hmmmm, golly gee wilickers! Some dumb shit analysts don't like this move?! Well who am I gonna trust? Brett Veach and Andy Reid, two guys that have consistently produced great lines and have nailed player evaluations time after time or media idiots that have tried to convince me that Kyler Murray or Baker Mayfield is better than Mahomes?

Just having a tough time figuring out who is more trustworthy!

There's risk involved but that's what I love about Veach.

Calculated risk where even if it doesn't take you just get an elite right tackle.

Other teams will never catch us playing it safe every move.

There is also the fact that Mahomes pocket awareness and having Thuney at LG makes the gamble even more likely to pay off.

They just did it with OBJ though, so if you aren't even acknowledging that, it just sounds silly. Yes, I know OBJ played LT in Baltimore but it was a completely different offense. Like I said, on paper, I'd argue that Taylor projects to LT even better because of his athleticism and feet.

OBJ had 800+ NFL LT snaps before joining the Chiefs. Taylor has 18.

I mean hey at least Taylor just spent a year with Pederson so he knows the scheme we run.

You really think it's more difficult to transition from Baltimore's scheme to KC's than it is for a guy to move from RT to LT?

Tackles change teams all the time. Schemes change all the time for the same team.

High end RTs don't regularly shift to LT.

AdolfOliverBush 03-14-2023 11:39 AM

At least Taylor is actually an athlete, as opposed to a guy who was just really big.

Depends on the guy honestly, some guys can play both sides without an issue other guys struggle with it.

I listened to Taylor Lewan say he can't do it, that trying to play on the right side for him is like trying to do things left handed.
