More or less, yes. I doubt Pioli traded for him to pay him 1 year/$15 million.

Still haven't read this whole thread, so maybe this stuff has been mentioned, but two reasons I'm not wild about Cassel are:

1) The Pats won 5 less games with Cassel than with Brady. That is a lot.

2) Pittsburgh defense just destroyed him the week after he threw for 400 yards.

Cassel is a long way from being a franchise QB right now.

Chiefs Pantalones 02-28-2009 03:25 PM

I wonder how many people will misspell Cassel during his tenure here...

Honestly, there's no real excuse for not competing for the wildcard THIS YEAR.

This is sarcasm right?

Complaining about this trade after the last 20 years is like throwing a fit because someone cut in front of you at KFC after spending the last three months getting gang raped by silverback apes in the jungle.

It sucks, I don't like it, but as far as ****ings go this one doesn't even make the list...

This.

No. While our defense wasn't "horrid", it wasn't good. We were nearly last in 3rd down defense and in red zone defense.

Not sure where we were in points per game, but I doubt it was in the top 10.

Chiefs Pantalones 02-28-2009 03:30 PM

I don't see why people are complaining about this. Do we know what we have in Pioli and Haley yet? Nope. Exactly. So shut up and give them a chance to make this work. This isn't the old Chiefs anymore, give them a chance. It's what YOU ALL wanted was change, so let it happen.

You and Hamas are both far more intelligent than this. Sure he won 5 less games than Tom Brady did, in the best regular season in the history of the NFL. Great, if perfection is the standard we're working with, then this is a failure. If Tom Brady, one of the greatest QB's of all time, is the standard here, then this is a failure. Because I'd put money that Matt Cassel never has a 16-0 regular season here.

Setting an impossibly high standard to justify a personnel move you don't like is not going to work in this argument.

No, not this time. I want a franchise QB and I don't think it's Cassel. I hope I'm wrong.

Fairplay 02-28-2009 03:31 PM

I will go down on record as approving this trade.

Whatever that is worth.

1.) Cassel week#1 was not the same as Cassel week #16, the defense was decimated by injuries, the offensive line didn't start to play well until after Neal came off of PUP and Gaffney dropped a touchdown pass that would have put the team in the playoffs at 12-4.

2.) The Patriots were beating the Steelers and controlling the game until Moss dropped an easy touchdown catch. The game changed from there.

I don't pretend to be sure that Cassel will be the answer for the Chiefs, but some of the arguments against the guy are just silly.

Overall defense the Pats were #10.

You've probably been asked this a bunch already but I haven't seen, but what's your take on Cassel?
