So I'm not going to go through this whole thread obviously. Any strong feelings around here on the only two potentially controversial calls in the game, (1) the absurd Gronk TD catch or (2) whether Branch's push-off should've been called?

My thought on (1) was that it was pretty clearly a catch. Ball can touch the ground if it's clearly controlled by the receiver before and through the entire catch. Think Gronk did that.

Branch, meanwhile, clearly did push off, but it seemed the refs were letting the boys play most game, and the Denver player was also playing grabby-games with Deion. Seems to have been a good non-call based on how the refs were handling the game.

1. Touchdown
2. Officials were letting them play all night...Love those kind of games.

Yeah, that wasn't too bright. Clearly frustrated after a great game by the Pats OLine kept Brady clean all night.

Disgusting, but I'm glad Niners won.

There was a Tebow sack that was about the same. That was a definite ouch moment. That plus the blindside sack by Ellis and I guarantee Tebow will be in pain through Wednesday, at least...

Not that I care TOO much because it was against the Donks, but the Brady punt was a typical New England "dick move". The passive arrogance of it all just irks me.

Gronk is awesome, and not just because he hangs with porn stars.

I agree in both cases. In fact, it looked to me as though the Broncos DB initiated the contact and Branch was smart enough to know how to take advantage of the situation just short of getting called for it.

Gronk is just a freakish weapon.

Why? What do you wan him to do on 3rd and 10 from his own 40 or whatever? Risk injury by throwing the ball, then get criticized for running up the score if they convert? Run the ball uselessly for 4 or whatever yards then do a "normal" punt?

Why? Quick kick optimizes field position and avoids injury risk. Seems like a perfectly good call to me.

Denver is going to lose. There's no mercy rule though -- you gotta play the last 10 minutes or whatever. You want us to hand them the football to be nice about it? Seriously, what do you want them to do?
