But that's not the only thing keeping them from being a legit contender. On their best day, they would look like the Saints or Packers, basically teams with outside chances to win. Not going to be juggernauts like the Seahawks |
I still think it has to do with the whole Mormon cult thing. It's very similar to the Tebow thing, but on a smaller scale.

If you're a fan of your team and a player on another, that's fine. But team always comes before a player. I love Sheldon Richardson. He's one of my favorite interviews of all time (even though he was a junior in high school when I spoke to him), and he's fun as hell to follow/watch. I enjoy watching him do well, too, because he's overcome a lot to realize his dreams. But if the Chiefs play the Jets? Screw Sheldon and screw the Jets. I hope he gets dominated, just like his team. |

You can win with that, but you need to be damn near perfect as a GM. The margin for error is essentially zero and I don't think that's a fair standard for anybody. Even if Jones hired the best GM in football, that guy's going to have a damn hard time winning anything until 2017 or 2018 when the contract is gone and the signing bonus is off the books. And then they'll have to figure out what the hell they're going to do about the QB position before they can start the climb out of the muck. |
