I would assume KU may play a little smaller next year compared to past seasons.

STARTERS
PG-Mason
SG-Selden
SF-Greene
PF-Ellis
PF-Alexander

BENCH
PG-whoever that
PG/SG-Frankamp
SF-Oubre
PF-Traylor
C-Mickelson

Frankamp may not be a Chalmers/Robinson/Rush type of defender, but he gives effort and maintains his focus, unlike the other PGs. He isn’t a liability like Tharpe.

If Mason is expected to make a big leap his 2nd year, we should expect the same from Conner.

No, Frankamp literally didn't display any playmaking ability in his 225 minutes last year (only 15 assists all year). He did a fine job filling in for Tharpe in a tournament game against a terrible team when they needed somebody not to throw the ****ing ball away with some poise under pressure, but that's all he showed. This obviously doesn't mean he can't improve that area of his game, but right now, he's not exactly an ideal PG, nor is he somebody I'd be expecting all that much from in that regard in year 2.

To be fair I haven't done that since NFL Gameday on Playstation.

Don't forget -- the kid hit some huge shots against Stanford.

Oh, I don't deny that he has shooting ability (even if he wasn't particularly good in that regard in '13-14). Doesn't make him a PG next year, though.

There were rumors swirling that Conner or Frank may transfer if KU landed Graham.

Personally I like Mason's potential the most. But I can live with Naadir one more year -- and him being substituted for breaks or when he makes a dumb decision by Frank or Conner.

I think the next four years are going to find us all split between Masonists and Frankampers.

I just totally disagree with you about Frankamp, and I feel like - if people don't see that he is much more of a naturally talented point guard than Mason or Tharpe, then they don't want to see it or aren't looking. Mason does one thing really well - he gets to the basket. But he doesn't FINISH really well, and he doesn't find his "outs" early enough. He'll leave his feet, realize he can't finish, and THEN look around to see if there's someone he can pass to.

Frankamp appears to know exactly what he is going to do before he does it. He starts to dribble knowing he's going to use a screen, knowing that he'll shoot it or where he'll pass it.

I understand that he didn't produce to the level I'm pumping him up. But if you told me I could have Frankamp, Mason, or Tharpe for the next three years... I'm taking Frankamp.

But he IS a point guard. In fact, he's the only one who played PG in high school! He started at PG for the USA team, where he led them in scoring.

Mason was a SG in high school, and it's much more his natural roll. It's why he doesn't look to use his driving ability to create for others.

Also, Frankamp playing PG in high school helps illustrate why his shooting was off. He's a MUCH more natural shooter off the bounce than he is spotting up in the corner.

I know it looks like Mason is sherron and frankamp is Reed... but really it's the other way around.

I have no problem with either player and think both will have high utility for this program (and it looks like they better sooner rather than later, because Tharpe is transferring out). Frankamp just didn't show a bit of playmaking ability in his freshman year, he badly needs to develop that part of his game.

15 assists is 225 minutes played just doesn't speak naturally talented PG to me.

The top pick in the NBA draft didn't finish well either. It's the fact that Mason already has the ability to create opportunities for himself and others already that is important. The finishing at the basket can and undoubtedly will be improved upon.

While that may be true, it's pretty irrelevant to me what either did in high school against a bunch of scrubs. We've had a year to look at what their capabilities are against much higher competition and Mason is the one who showed a ton more skills in many different areas.

Not even close.
