They came to Westport in the early 90's. Thick, twisty crust.

cosmo20002 06-02-2013 11:32 PM

Bad pizza can still be pretty good. Bad ribs, on the other hand, are usually pretty damn bad. Bad pizza is still better than most food that isn't a steak.

That's true. Has to be eaten in one sitting, preferably while at least above room temperature. Once it gets cold, toss. Not good cold, not good reheated.

They had it in Lawrence too. Their thing was that twisty crust had they gave you honey to put on it. OK, but was never a big fan. In those days I liked Pizza Shuttle. They had 1 size that I think was $5 delivered, or 3 for $10. Cheap and excellent 'bad' pizza.

Speaking of pizza, I had a gyro pizza for the first time last week. Gryo meat, Tzatziki, Diced tomato & red onion, and mozzarella on a thin crust. Was awesome, though I'd like to get feta on it next time.

I hate breakfast pizza.

Saw fresh pizza one morning while grabbing beer for the day and grabbed a slize. Looked like a chesse pizza with sausage.

Loved it.

When I went back for beer before the 3pm game I was informed that was a breakfast pizza and it was no longer available.

While a difficult day where I questioned my politics, religion, and sexuality (the 1st time Chans' Bills raped our faces) I learned not all breakfast pizza sux...

Don't pig out on them every day.. I gained ten pounds in a month eating a slice or two a day. I think they are good but damn full of cholesterol. I had to quit eating them for a while.

MTG#10 06-03-2013 09:16 AM

Took the kids to Silver Dollar City yesterday, they have a new pizza joint that is amazing. The 45 minute wait sucked but it was the best pizza Ive had in years. Just around the corner from the new Outlaw Run coaster.

LMAO

Chan's raping of the Chiefs had a profound impact on you, no?

At least in all the darkness you found the light that is good breakfast pizza.

One thing I loved about working at Domino's was bringing my own stuff from home and using their 7 minute oven to cook them bad boys. Breakfast pizzas, omelets, steak and taters. I even cooked corned beef and cabbage in them bad asses. Alas, no more.

No way man. When you go to SDC you have to get a turkey leg and some of that veggie/potato/sausage stuff they mix up in the giant trough. I LOVE that stuff.

and funnel cakes

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-03-2013 10:44 AM

Little Caesar's cheese would congeal into chunks and globules. It disgusted me. Haven't eaten it in at least 15 years.

When I was in HS I worked at a Hy-Vee. One week they trained me to cover a vacation in the Pizza Shop. This is when they had the $5.99 large carryout special. I was trained horribly, had no ****ing idea what was going on.

When it came time for me to start the Pizza display I just opened up the back of the warmer and yanked out the fuse, then told them it was broken.

Spent the rest of the shift with my head on the steel counter nursing a brutal hangover.

Agreed on the skillet meal, not big on turkey legs though. It's the first and only time I've ever got pizza there but I didn't regret it at all. And of course funnel cakes are a given. I probably gained 5 lbs yesterday.

Ever have Gator on a stick? They will have that and all the goodie stuff you mentioned plus roasted corn on the cob at the Salina Smokey Hill river festival. Fun times and good food. I won't be going this year though.

No sir, I've never had gator on a stick. It's not that I wouldn't try it, but with all of the other good stuff around, I'd just never get far enough down on my favorite foods list to try it.

Does Kelso's still exist at the mall? I used to really love that place.

But Minskey's is pretty outstanding in its own right. One failed here in Columbia and the one I used to swing by in Springfield is gone as well. Blows my mind - Minskey's is pretty great.

Rosatti's is good...so is Sarpino's. I love Imo's, though. Go get their lunch buffet some time. Minsky's is also really good.

I tried Sarpino's for the first time a while back and while it's an obvious step up from the Pizza Huts/Dominos/Papa John's, I thought it was below Minsky's/Waldo/Funhouse. They delivered like 25 blocks away though, so I'll probably hit them up again. UGene's is still my favorite in KC.

But yeah, KC is shit if you want a Chicago style pie, but you can get a decent fold over slice or Neapolitan style pizza.
