Is Plouffe really that interesting? Career .236 hitter. Around .700 OPS.

He's a RH stick with pretty good power. If he COULD play a passable 2B, a guy like Plouffe (who has average a HR ever 23 AB the past three years) wouldn't be a bad guy to have playing 2B and hitting 7th for you.

He also wouldn't be a bad platoon or bench guy.

Nope.

Only way he takes 4/$40 million is if that's the only long-term offer he gets. Edwin Jackson got 4/$52 with a less pedigree, coming off a lesser year in the easier league.

I'd say somewhere around 4/$60-70 million is what he's likely looking at.

DL so they probably weren't scouting him.

Yeah I was kinda basing it off your post earlier.

He will probably get 60.

Would anyone be in on him for 3-45?

I was just saying that even a lowball offer like that would be a better deal for him than the qualifying offer.

This.

He's a career 95 OPS+ guy vs. Getz (69 career OPS+). And he has played a handful (4-6) games at 2B at the MLB level. If he can be had for minimal cost, and cover second base, he'd definitely make us better.

Nothing to pop champagne corks over except that it might mean the end of Getz.

If the Royals are going to go for it, you do it now.

I think they need to look hard at Kendrick. As far as im concerned Zimmer is untouchable and you may have to trade ventura or duffy to get him, maybe even another pitcher.

Royals cant sit on this deadline or they may as well have traded Santana.

**** Rios, he's a sack of shit

Sure-Oz 07-29-2013 05:09 PM

Willingham through waivers would be real nice for RF, power hitter

Nice. We just passed the 8005 post mark, which is important for obvious calculator humor reasons.

Ex-Royal George "Boomer" Scott died Sunday.

How did I know you would be the only person to comment on a guy who played 40 games with one of the best teams we had?

His death brought some similar thought to what is being discussed today. Whitey Herzog used to bitch that Joe Burke wouldn't spend Mr K's money and get him a RH power bat all through the winning 70's. Finally, In 79 Burke acquires Boomer. Who, in 40 games hit exactly one HR. It was a classic Boomer Scott HR. A rising line drive that landed half way up the grass over the 385 sign in LC field.
By the time we got him, Scott had practically eaten himself out of the league.

Of course it was too little, too late as we lost the division to the Angels. We shouldn't have, and the Angels were very good, but the Royals were a better team.

One other thing I remember: when KC released him, the Yankees picked Scott up. Reggie was with the Yankees and said after a late game and post dinner and disco in NY, GS wanted to go eat. AGAIN. Reggie, in the quote said, "I ain't going to eat at 3am. There's no place open other than Duncan Donuts".

Bye Boomer. RIP.

You have better memories of him than I do. :)

I remember when we got him I thought, "Cool! George Scott!" Then I remember he hit only 1 HR. And that's it.

Barely remember he was a Royal. In '79, girls took priority over the Royals. RIP George.
