Agreed. I thought the Pats took the foot off the pedal by the 4th quarter. Hell, we only scored 10 points the entire second half, and it wasn't really because the Denver D had solved our offense...

I agree in both cases. In fact, it looked to me as though the Broncos DB initiated the contact and Branch was smart enough to know how to take advantage of the situation just short of getting called for it.

Gronk is just a freakish weapon.

Agreed on both. My 7 year old was yapping as usual, but I thought I heard Simms saying he thought Gronk's wasn't a catch, and I was like :spock: ?

Thanks for your thoughts.

One last thought -- no idea what Fox was thinking on throwing the ball on 3rd and whatever at the end of the 1st half. I was telling my kids that they need to run -- they have a decent chance of converting because of their decent run game and, more importantly, giving the ball back to Brady after an imcomplete throw with over a minute to go is inviting a dagger to the heart.

And what happens? Incomplete pass. Wow. Just bad coaching IMHO.

Surprised the Broncos didn't bench Tebow. They got down by a bunch really early and Tebow was ineffective the whole game. He pretty much solidified himself as the starter next season by beating Pittsburgh. They could have pulled him and put an end to that discussion.

Although, the Ravens got rid of Dilfer after they won a SB.

Oh, well. I guess that for the rest of the playoffs I get to revert to rooting for the most complete NFL coach I've ever watched.

Get another ring, Bill.

Maybe — MAYBE — if they were three scores down. Once they were five scores down, it just didn't matter.

Even if it didn't matter I'm sure Quinn could have thrown more completions than Brady threw TDs in the first half.

[QUOTE=Nzoner;8293328]After two one and done in the play-offs I'm sold on the Pats taking everything seriously and I would not be surprised to see an ass kicking of epic proportions [QUOTE]

Disagree. It was a good move, and it ended up being a pretty good kick, too.

I'm sure Brady punted on 3rd down before, forget when, 2 seasons ago or something?

In their post-game interviews BB and Brady were saying it was like 7 years ago.

They also said they were considering it when they were on their goal line and it was like 2nd and 12. If it had been 3rd and 12, they probably would've done it there, but they converted on a pass -- sideline to Branch IIRC.

The fact that it worked so well gave the whole thing a very Bradyish feel. Cassel couldn't have pulled that off so smoothly.

Smed1065 01-15-2012 12:21 AM

Pats will not win. Sorry CP'ers.

Brady can't miss, no matter what he does. He signed a sweet deal for his soul. Live it up while you can, Tommy.
