If I'm an A's fan, I'm ecstatic. They don't need stud offensive players(does Cespedes qualify for that?)to win. They just landed(if official)a totally stud ace and a guy that has helped them win before. Who would you want to face:

Verlander/Scherzer or Lester/smardejzia(you get who I'm saying)?

Yeah, I'll face the Detroit two every time. A's are all in on the WS and I think they do it.

Cespedes is a free agent after next year as well and the A's wouldn't be able to re-sign him most likely.

If I'm an A's fan, I get excited, because my team is the favorite to win it all now.

If I'm a Boston Red Sox fan, I'm excited because my team just got a young, power-hitting OF who will hit 30+ HR in Boston, easily, for at least one more season. At the cost of a guy who is a FA and might re-sign in Boston, anyway. And the Sox get the competitive balance pick, increasing their draft pool substantially.

Royals dump Valencia, A's immediately acquire Lester with a series with KC coming up.

I predict the A's acquire Valencia at some point in the next few years. He fits in well with the platoon system they've established (though the position Valencia 'plays' - 3B - is one of the few platoon-proof spots they have).
