Why? Quick kick optimizes field position and avoids injury risk. Seems like a perfectly good call to me.

Denver is going to lose. There's no mercy rule though -- you gotta play the last 10 minutes or whatever. You want us to hand them the football to be nice about it? Seriously, what do you want them to do?

If injuries are such mammoth concern, why have Brady do a quick punt? In fact, why have Brady in AT ALL with the lopsided score? Would I be wrong in thinking that the punter or backup QB is more important than Brady? And what's wrong with doing a "normal" punt on 3rd down? If the quick punt was on 4th down, then I can somewhat understand catching Denver off guard there a lot more rather than it being 3rd down (remember though, it's 45 to ****ing 10 with 3 min. left.).

You can sit here and argue it all night, but I see it as a dick move and (surprise, surprise) Patsie fans are going to defend it fervently and come off as if I walked up, spit in your face and punched your kid in the side of the head. Belichick's an asshole, this is common knowledge.

I'm hoping for a Patriots vs. Packers Super Bowl. Epic.

Um, punting on 3rd down (without the punter on the field) IS designed to catch them off guard and prevent a return. WTF are you talking about?

In a 45-10 game though? Is it really necessary?

...wait, don't answer that. It's the NFL. I know. And this is where opinions normally differ on what's considered "fair game" with this being the highest professional league of football, if you don't like it...then stop it.

Their third score wasn't "necessary." Why should they be shackled by what's "necessary"?

What exactly do you want them to do? I'm confused. They're giving the other team the ball on 3rd down. If that's not fair play, I don't know what is. Should they have started taking knees with 3 minutes left? Run the ball one useless time? Throw it?

I don't understand how anyone can have a problem with that.

The only Donk fan with enough stones to show up on Pats planet had this to say

Congrats to the Pats

Broncos fans weren't under any illusions that we might have the better team. We did think we had a chance to win this game, but knew that every bounce would have to go our way. Even then, it wouldn't have mattered. The Pats destroyed the Broncos on both sides of the LOS. That was a dominating performance.

You'll hear some complaints about BB running up the score by running a no huddle late in the game and passing into the 4th. I have no problems with the way he ran the game. He took his foot off of the pedal late, and showed a ton of class with the pooch punt in the 4th.

The AFC championship game should be a lot of fun to watch. I'm betting on Baltimore being the team you meet.

I think Brady wanted that TD record. And I'd have let him have it. No other reason to keep him in the game.
