Medlen maybe?

What is the deal with Lamb? Are the Royals just dead set on him pitching all season in Omaha & calling him up in September?

They might want to limit scouting on him and call him up late. Some teams like the Rays have used that approach in the past.

Mat Latos threw another gem last night. Now has an ERA under 3 since the start of June, with good peripherals (28 Ks in 29 2/3 IP, 1.21 WHIP, 3:1 K:BB).

I know I've been beating that drum for a while, but that could be a sneaky, less expensive little acquisition that has just as much upside as any names other than Cueto or Price at a much lower cost.

You probably could also get Martin Prado for not much else thrown in, too, who gives you insurance at multiple positions (and specifically, LF and 2B).

Pitch efficiency and ability to throw strikes with his secondaries seem to be the sticking points for him.

Yost said Medlen, Ventura and Blanton will be in the mix for the fifth starter spot. He said Lamb is unlikely

Not sure I want to follow the Tampa blueprint for postseason success...

Mike Boddicker said on 810 this morning that we should trade Ventura for Cueto. Some people are really going off the deep end.

Mike Boddicker is a silly, bitter old man.

Yep, I'm very much on board with Latos. Unlike others, though, I believe getting another starter to protect against injury or bed shitting wouldn't be the worst idea in the world. Absolutely necessary? Probably not, but damn our rotation gets better with Latos and Kazmir.

On Twitter, Royals fans suggested to me that they've been beating good pitchers all season. OK, let's look it up. I scrolled through the opposing starters the Royals have faced and wrote down guys who could be considered aces or something close to an ace. Here are those starters I wrote down that they've faced: Sonny Gray, Scott Kazmir, Chris Sale, Corey Kluber, David Price, Michael Pineda, Johnny Cueto, Lance Lynn, Michael Wacha, Jake Arrieta, Felix Hernandez, Dallas Keuchel, Chris Archer, A.J. Burnett, Cole.

Those are all good pitchers, no matter how you exactly classify them. They Royals have faced those guys a total of 21 games. They're 15-6 and have averaged 4.6 runs per game. They Royals have been beating good starters. The fans were right.

Mike Boddicker is typically a moron when it comes to pitchers.

This is especially dumb. Yes, let's trade the young starter with dominant stuff and potential, who was nails in the postseason and had a great rookie year, is controlled for six more seasons, for a 1/2 season of a guy.

And let's trade him at the nadir of his value. Nothing like getting 50 cents on the dollar!

Saw something on twitter about Latos wearing out his welcome in Miami, like he did in Cincinnati.

Also trading When Nature Calls would be stupid right now. His value is low.

Prison Bitch 07-22-2015 10:36 AM

Would u trade Herrera straight up for Price? Obv he'd be their closer the next 2 years which would finally bring them a legit closer they've lacked.

I may rethink the idea of Det going for it after last nights debacle. They have 7 games this week vs bottom feeders Sea + Bos. Just dropped 1. The witching hour is really upon them now at -10.5. They'll know their fate by Sunday.

suzzer99 07-22-2015 10:37 AM

Can someone look up our record against say the top 25 starters in the AL? I feel like it's easy to cherry pick a few really good starters but leave out good starters we haven't done well against.
