Surprised to see Easy A getting all the love it's getting. It wasn't anything special to me. The plot was amazingly dumb to me.

It's a love letter to John Hughes.

Safe House was great. Denzel was Denzel and Ryan Reynolds did a ****ing fantastic job. That dude really shines when he's given a serious role.

I also watched a foreign film called City of God. It's based in Brazil around 1960-1970, right outside of Rio De Janeiro. It was basically about growing up in the favela. The drugs and guns were so bad there was a point when police wouldn't even go into the city; it was completely controlled by the "hoods" (dealers). It's crazy to see how out of control it was at that time. Kids, 6 years old, had guns and killed with no remorse. Insane stuff. I'd definitely recommend it if you don't mind subtitles..

I'd say City of God is definitely a must-watch. One of the best films of the past 15 years. There was a sequel series called City of Men that was later condensed down into a 2 hour movie. Worth checking out.

Just watched Machine Gun Preacher. Good flick based on a true story.

This is a good read for Sci fi horror fans.

Yeah I thought Reynolds was pretty damn good in "Buried". If you haven't seen it, it's ok. I wanna check out Safe House sometime.

I watched Martin Scorsese's "After Hours" again this weekend. I've probably seen that movie like 6 times and I just love it. It's one of my favorite movies. I don't really know why. I doubt ANYONE else - maybe in the world - has that particular movie in their "top whatever" favorite movies list. Something about it is just entertaining as hell to me. The music is really kinda creepy too, and it suits the movie well. Check it out if you haven't seen it. I'm not saying you will think it's a great movie, but I believe you'll be entertained by it if you have the ability to watch and enjoy under the radar 80s films.

Yeah I saw Buried a while back. He did a great job there as well, being the only actor visible for like 98% of the movie. He was also really good in The Amityville Horror.

I thought safe house was pretty average. Maybe I hyped it to much in my mind before I seen it.

That's possible. I had a couple people tell me it was terrible and/or boring so I lowered my expectations. I ended up redboxing it a couple weeks after it dropped and was pleasantly surprised. I should have known though. Denzel doesn't make bad movies and Ryan Reynolds is tits.

I bought Garbage Pail Kids for nostalgic reasons.

If I remember it is kinda, sorta ****ed up.

Not sure if it's been mentioned here, but I recently saw Resurrect Dead: The Mystery of the Toynbee Tiles. It's a documentary about the mystery of the Toynbee tiles, which are tiles that have been found in the road of several major US cities with the following message:

TOYNBEE IDEA
IN Kubrick's 2001
RESURRECT DEAD
ON PLANET JUPITER.

The film follows a group of guys who are determined to find out who made the tiles and why. Very interesting.

Really? I was disappointed in "Safe House".
The action was great, but it wore on too long.
I was thought the ending was meh...
