You're going to have stretches where you're not getting any runs because your guys can't get on base. That's baseball.

There'll be times when the pitching isn't there. Sometimes you'll get stretches where both your starters and relievers aren't delivering to par at the same time.

But defense though.. You can't let grounders eat you up at short - especially in a high leverage situation.

Yawn. It's baseball. If we still suck by the All-Star break I'll be concerned then.

The thing that bothers me the most is how sloppy we look on defense. I think that's the biggest cause for concern. Being 15-17 isn't a big deal. Especially when the entire AL is pretty average outside of the White Sox so far.

This team would have to completely fall on its collective face to not make the playoffs. I just don't like being a wild card in a one gamer.

This is completely going against my thoughts from earlier this season, but I think it's almost a necessity to try Duffy back in the rotation. Chris Young and Medlen are disasters.

Kennedy
Volquez
Ventura
Duffy
Gee

I agree. Duffy has sucked as a starter recently, but he has more potential upside than anybody.

I keep remembering how Zack Greinke was struggling as a starter early in his career. He went to the bullpen, figured it out, returned to the rotation, and he was in beast mode after that.

I'm not saying Danny Duffy is anything like Zack Greinke, but it's fun to speculate about what he could do as a starter if he would ever get the same command of his pitches that he showed prior to his Tommy John surgery.

Of course, another potential role for Duffy would be as a short man in the bullpen in innings 7-8-9. Soria certainly has shown he should not be in that group.

Chris Young has a muscle strain on the top of the forearm, Ned Yost said. He could be out a week. Possible DL candidate.

Ned also said Medlen is experiencing a shoulder issue. He's getting it checked. His start is in jeopardy Sunday.
