Against San Diego this year in week 1 what did you see? That's Alex. That's what I wanted back then. Don't let these guys beat you down. We're about to go on a big run and the defense will look much different at the end of the year once these young corners have evolved and Justin Houston is back. Alex is going to be fine, and the Chiefs are going to be great, and these guys will not be on your shit so much. Stick to your guns. We're fine. He's fine. It'll work itself out beginning in Oakland. Half of these guys jaws are dropping as they read these posts that I make these days. It's cool. :)

Why is the real Alex the guy who shows up once every 15 games or so?

By my current estimation, Alex Smith ranks about right here on the Casselian Scale:

Mmmm, such a prophetic post. Two years and counting since that wretched contract extension.

Deep down every single one of you knows we are just wasting four more years of our precious lives on Alex Smith.

You can feel it. Down in your plums.

Alex Smith’s time is running out

The Alex Smith we have seen this season is not capable of leading a playoff run, let alone a Super Bowl run. And that’s a problem, as (despite not being perfect) the Chiefs have a roster talented enough to do either (I’m not kidding).

Foles wouldn’t need to come in and be elite to improve the Chiefs offense. He could play at the same level he played at this preseason and the offense would improve. Smith has struggled that much.

Again, I’m not saying it’s time to make a move. This is Alex’s team and he has, in my opinion, done enough to earn a bit more slack. But with the emergence of Chris Conley and Spencer Ware, along with the improved play of the offensive line (yes, it has been improved from last year, it’s just been hard to see with Smith’s struggles) ... we should be seeing Smith play at a higher level than we’ve ever seen him play. Instead, he’s regressed to a level well beneath what we saw last season.

It's not happening. Smith will finish out the year and we'll hear about how this offense needs more weapons and better blocking. Foles will move onto another team.

I hate that you are right. I don't know how they can sit in the film room and watch this shit and justify starting him. But somehow that's what they end up doing.

Because they have to protect his poor, little feelings. He can't be benched on a second team. He was brought here to win a Super Bowl.

I don't know what broke down on him quicker...his football intelligence or his body. He had a good run....it's time to move on. Put in Foles and see if you even want to bring him back next year.

On the bright side, Andy Reid has said, "no one is a bigger fan of Nick Foles than me." And this was last year when he went to St. Louis.... So we know Andy genuinely loves Foles. I dunno, I am less skeptical of Alex being benched for Foles than I was Cassel ever being benched for...errr, Stanzi, Palko, Quinn, Tanney or Croyle... I think it's possible we see it happen....either that or some injury to Alex randomly "pops up."

The Franchise 10-07-2016 09:08 AM

When does it happen? Say we come out after our bye week and get stomped by the Raiders.....is it then?

Smith has 4 defenses coming up that are beatable. The Raiders, Saints, Colts and Jags can all be beat on defense.

Bunch of ingrates! Smith just a season ago led us to our first playoff win in convincing style. In a long long time

We limped into New England dessimated by injuries. Prior to that we reeled off 11 wins in a row. Before Smith we had a 2-14 lost cause team. His first year he led us to the playoffs and spanked the Colts. Our secondary crumbled and pissed away his stellar performance w a weak receiving core. He has earned more leash than you are giving him. At least Smith stays healthy and has been there for us in the big playoff games. All of our other stars like Jamaal and Houston have missed the big games due to injuries or concussion. Give Smith Maclin and Ware & Houston last year and we beat New England in that game and go onto crush the Donkeys just like we did when Manning got benched. We had the best team in the league last year and could not stay healthy. Denver was not a better team. Smith has earned more leash and this is your lamest article to date. I like you MN but this article was garbage and lacks respect for our field general.
