I've asked this before, I'll ask it again. What quarterback has ever been drafted #1 overall as the result of his Senior Bowl?

Can't think of any. And frankly it may not make a difference.

That said, people are blasting Geno because of one bad bowl game and his momentum has clearly stalled. If Wilson goes out there and has a great game, his is going to build.

And it will snowball moving towards the draft, through the combines, etc...

It's an inertia thing and right now Geno Smith has lost most of it. I do not like the idea of him skipping the Senior Bowl.

“We’ve been blessed with the No. 1 pick in the draft,” Reid said. “You want to make sure you do the right thing and pick the right guy for that. Not necessarily a quarterback — it doesn’t have to be a quarterback. It has to be the right thing. You don’t want to force anything at that point. People that do that get themselves in trouble.”
Do not like.

Still think its fake?

Maybe they just don't have the internet in WV. Seems bizarre that he has that few followers.

Again, if Geno is being advised that he's currently the #1 or #2 pick, there's nowhere for him to go but down. He'd be stupid to play.

Not that I don't wish he would, just so we could see them side by side, but all this tells me is that NFL teams are telling Wilson's agent that he still has to "prove it".

Key word being "currently".

A lot can change, especially in this QB class.

Do not like. Not sure if serious.

He was non committal both ways. He has also said that we're "blessed" to have the number one pick in reference to being asked about the QB weakness of the Chiefs

It's more like if has a good week but but I agree. Geno Smith is the #1 QB prospect but nobody is really salivating over him. Well except for folks around here. If Wilson kills it at the SR Bowl, combine and private workouts he could definately move ahead of Smith.

This twitter thing makes no sense, why would Geno's "new" account not follow ANY of his teammates?

It doesn't make any sense that his old twitter would have 16,000 followers while his new one only has 6,000.

NFL teams (well, most NFL teams) aren't subject to the same whimsy fans are.

If Geno Smith is being advised that he's going to be the #1 or #2 pick, there are literally ZERO reasons for him to play in the Senior Bowl.

Short of flunking the Wonderlic, getting busted for coke, or saying that a Rorschach test looks like "that time in Panama" at the Combine, NO QB - not Geno, not Tyler, not Barkley - is going to fall this time of year.

This is the time of year when QB stock rises, whether they deserve it or not.

The Jags and Chiefs are both teams with new management etc. I doubt he's being advised he's a lock for #1 or 2 when both teams are up in the air. Also, among the nfl.com, espn.com and other larger sites where reporters have connections (not including ian rappaport) they all say there isn't a qb worth the first pick. If scouts were coming back with rave reviews of Smith there would be talk of him being like Luck or Newton or Stafford. Those stations love pimping and hyping QBs and they aren't doing it.

IMO, the advice isn't you are going 1 or 2, but lets stop the bleeding and keep you in the top 20.
