Dude, you focus on some ancillary stuff sometimes.

What killed us was:
1. Poor hitters
2. Poor pitchers
3. Incompetent coaching/GMing
.........................................
107. Passed balls

I was addressing the catching position specifically. You know that. Come on, Deez. In no way was I saying THEY were THE reason our season sucked.

And you kow this.....man!!!

Point of note, the Royals have played 6 more games on the road than they have at home. We are 4 games under .500 on the road. That's not terrible. The 8-11 record at home is bothersome but hopefully that will turn around.

Nothing new there. We have sucked at home for years. We just suck in general. It's who we are. Embrace it.:D

Hopefully that changes now that the era of the 1st inning bunt is gone.

And have you noticed that since Yost took over our OF doesn't seem to be grossly out of position???

I don't know.

I'd like to see a full season of play before I get too excited. Let's just say, it's a nice start.

That would be an atrocious defensive club, unfortunately, depending on how Moose, Myers and Hosmer develop their gloves (all three are seen as average fielders at best right now).

Myers has the tools to be an excellent defensive catcher. He's very raw - didn't play the position full-time until he got to the minors.

If he's an average fielder right now, that isn't too bad.

Question with Myers is if you waste his athleticism at catcher. He'd be a hell of a center fielder (and would play an extra 30 games a year if he was there instead of C)...

After reading Ranys column I'm convinced Ned is exactly the kind of manager we need right now.

Well, so far I have been slightly impressed with Yost. He is maintaining a consistent lineup, unlike Bell and Hillman for the most part. We aren't getting any bunting in the 1st inning. The OF is better positioned. There seems to be more hustle. We haven't had any baserunning SNAFU's and so far he has handled the pitching staff rather well.

i think that people who think greinke will leave are wrong. did you think he would sign his last deal? he knows that the big money teams are also mainly big market teams. big market media is what he doest seem to want to deal with. kc media are cupcakes.

and seeing the youngs coming could be exciting for him, maybe moose can lead the team to score runs for him.

Wha? Hosmer is a great defensive 1B with Gold Glove upside.

Myers is average at catcher (although has the tools to be much better with experience) but definitely has the athleticism to provide above average defense or better in a corner OF spot. Hell, it has even been suggested he could eventually move to center.

Also, DRob is a vacuum in center and would be a huge defensive asset if he can hit enough at the MLB level.

Maybe you should read my post again, more closely this time. I said that a lot depends on how their gloves develop. Implicit in that usage is my understanding that there is room for development. That Hosmer and Myers have defensive potential that can be reached naturally follows from what I said. Also, my usage of the phrase "right now" designates two things: that their state as "average at best" is applies to a specific temporality and that the state can change.
