I read where Ed Orgeron showed some interest.

Bowen is getting first crack at it, and will be the fallback option if they can't lure who they (the alums that is) want.

No you don't, not when it's obvious that he's an utterly incompetent boob who you should never have hired in the first place.

Charlie Weis had a Big 12 record of 1-18. How much more evidence could anyone need?

But let's examine your statement that you have to give a guy 4-5 years to turn a program around.

Question: How did Notre Dame do in years 4 and 5 of Charlie Weis's tenure?

Answer: He took a legendary program (11 national championships) and dragged it into the dumpster. His best years were his first 2 years when he was starting players he had not recruited. When his recruits got significant playing time, he turned Notre Dame into a losing program. He had losing record his last 2 seasons, and I'm not even counting the 3-9 debacle of his 3rd season. 3-9 at Notre ****ing Dame?

Weis was actually a far worse hire than Turner Gill. It's nice that Sheahon Zenger faced that fact and got rid of him. Giving Weis 5 years to prove once again that he can't coach would be even more of a disaster than hiring him in the first place.

Prison Bitch 10-09-2014 07:19 AM

I don't think I'd be praising Zenger right now for much of anything football related

Gary Barnett is lobbying for the job on 810 right now.

Not sure hiring a guy who's been unemployed for 9 years would be a great move. Of course, KU isn't exactly a dream job for a football coach either.

Spoiler!

Just the guy you want with the recent uproar over sexual assault and domestic violence.

Wanted it last time it was open. 68 years old though. Not sure that's the direction we want to go.

What they should do is hire an up and comer, like a successful coordinator or coach from a minor conference. The Kansas job could be seen by an up and comer as a springboard to a bigtime job if he does well, or at worst he would end up a pensioner like Weis or Gill or Maningo, or... (how many head coaches will the be paying next year anyway, four?)

An elderly coach isn't the answer for a school in that position, IMO.

Might turn in to an Old Ballz type of turn around... This dumpster fire of a program needs all the help it can get.

Eleazar 10-09-2014 07:47 AM

Would they really hire a Missouri native and Mizzou alum? That seems unlikely.

ku can do much better than Barnett. Hell, Bowen is a superior option to GB

I think they can do better. I don't know about "much better", though. Might as well at least make Harbaugh say no. If there's any chance he's available, you have to try.
