Ned also said Medlen is experiencing a shoulder issue. He's getting it checked. His start is in jeopardy Sunday.

This is completely going against my thoughts from earlier this season, but I think it's almost a necessity to try Duffy back in the rotation. Chris Young and Medlen are disasters.

I'd go with:
Kennedy
Volquez
Ventura
Duffy
Gee

What do we have to lose at this point? Young and Medlen are auto L's right now.

I would make Duffy the 5th starter but looks good.

I'm heading up for the game Sunday. I'm hoping for a new starting pitcher.

Can Hochevar start again?

How about Kyle Davies?

Bring in Brian Bannister for a look?

If Medlen is unable to start Sunday, Yost would likely go to Duffy or Flynn. Neither is stretched out beyond 50-60 pitches. But few options.

Anyone in the minors worthy of a start?

Mills, Pounders, Farrell.... Maybe Strahm.... those would be the only guys that have pitched with any type of consistency or success this season.... But all 4 are sample sizes. Strahm is still adjusting to the starter role in AA, but maybe catch lightening in a bottle for a couple starts with him.

If I had to make the call, I'd bring up Mills for a start and see how he does.

It sounds like Minor still has a ways to go and I doubt they'd rush him unless they had no other option.

Plus, if they promote him, his rehab assignment option ends. Can't send him back down to finish it if he's been called up.

More likely to me is that they they bring up someone who can give them 3-4 innings in relief and try to do a tandem start with Duffy and Flynn, stretching out whichever one they want to keep in the rotation until Minor is ready.

They also could probably leverage Wang in that long-relief role, too, and make the call-up someone they could use in relief.

Either way, Young and Medlen have been burying the team so badly that it will be a relief to see them out of the rotation.
