Plenty of baseball to be played in August and September.
|
August is our position month. We must have a good August to be in contention, have to play 700 to 800 ball up to the series with Detroit on Aug. 15 - 18, 5 games in 4 days. Cleveland will be at Oakland, basically we have to be within 2 games of Detroit by then and go at least 3 - 2, nothing worst than 2 - 3 to stay in this race for the division.
Detroit is on the road for the next 10 games while we are home, we must make up at least 4 games. 3 of them could come by Cleveland winning and who cares who wins the 4th game between them if Cleveland wins 3 in a row. With this, we must sweep the Twinkies and then continue winning against the Red Sox. Do this and the 5 game set in Detroit is pivotal, keeps us in the division even though we still have games with Cleveland & Detroit left later in the schedule. The confidence is flowing, continue winning and we can take them, we falter now and it's over with our schedule. |
Another reason I say shoot for the division......

Just saw that. Royals are the top story on ESPN.com... in August. I was going to say I wonder how long it's been since that's happened. Then I realized the last time was probably before the internet.

But seriously, I'm looking forward to every game right now, it's amazing. |
Just read the 4 letter .com article. Relevant in August is nice.

I noticed the 2003 Royals hit 162 home runs. I guess we had to to overcome the dodgy pitching that year.
|
After this series with the Twins we'll have about a 3 week stretch of playing against better teams. After that though, it should be smooth sailing for about a month.
|
So, I guess we'd prefer to have Cleveland win their series against Detroit?
