Makes zero sense for them to sign him. They have Tex.

Pujols could be a yankee...but he'd probably have to DH, play some 3rd and a little 1st, too...I wouldn't put it past that wretched organization...

Well I have no idea what team it will be, but I still think it's funny and weird all at the same time that he can win a world championship and be on a plane to the highest bidder the next day.

I agree unless they plateau him and arod at 3b/dh...I doubt albert wants to be a dh, though.

At this point he's either a cardinal or a cub if you ask me...cubs will offer more but will he take the hometown discount?

that would be the only way he could be a Yankee...seems unrealistic, I agree...but I put nothing past that franchise...especially when a once in a lifetime free agent hits the market

Hootie 10-28-2011 10:56 PM

and he'd still play 150+ games...they'd just split time in the field and as DH...Albert could spell Teixiera some, as well...and perhaps ARod could still spell Jeter a bit at SS...lord knows neither have great range like they used to anyways.

That's the highest of all possible highs for a fan and player. Absolutely amazing. You can't script this shit.

Greatest sports experience of my life.

THIS!

Hootie he's not disagreeing with your idea. He's mocking you for saying the Yankees are going to turn him into an elevated flatland.

AP isn't going anywhere after tonight.

The only team that can really afford him besides Stl is the Cubs and that aint happening.

Cards can afford him and will do it.

AP is asking for a buttload of cash and will earn every penny the first 4-5 years of the deal. Nobody will ever convince me that a franchise won't break even at the very least in elevated attendance and merchandise sales. Albert has been the role model of what a professional athlete should be on and off the field. Get the man a contract, increase the salary cap to fit the difference, then prepare the fans for a legit WS contender the next few years.

St. Louis was down to 0.9% as far as their chances of making the playoffs. I don't blame anyone for not believing in this team at the end of August, there was no good reason to.

His second half resurgence and winning the WS may have driven up his price but I kind of doubt he leaves after this run. I at least now have a good amount of confidence that the Cards will do what it takes within reason.
