I can't believe people are killing Cam over the post game stuff...how the hell do you want him to act? They just lost the Super Bowl lol...

He's not obligated to "sit there and take it" and I for one thought it was refreshing that you saw how he truly felt...

It's hilarious that everyone was crucifying or QB for overthrowing Kelce when Cam had 4 overthrown passes to WR's that were wide open.

The guy gave up at the end and didn't even try to get the fumble. If Alex did that on the last drive of the game he would get crucified

For example, Newton was stymied by his terrible receivers and terrible offensive line, so it wasn't really his fault. When this happened to Alex Smith, he was supposed to "throw them open" and if he were a good QB, he'd raise the level of the people around him.

Newton turned the ball over 3 times and produced no touchdowns, to say nothing of his mental gaffe of not going in for the fumble which ended his team's chances, or his screaming at officials toward the end, but it was excusable because he was playing a great defense. Smith gets criticized when he plays a good defense and wins, but doesn't put up a lot of yards.

Smith has never once displayed a lack of maturity like Newton did last night after the game, but around here he's seen as not leading enough, just towing the company line, etc

In the game thread, you point out that Newton was overthrowing half the time, side arming passes, etc., it's because he is being hurried. Smith dealt with that all last year and it was just "no more excuses!"

It's remarkable how we at CP treat our own players worse than anyone else's. It's particularly remarkable today, because Alex Smith probably would have won that game. Nobody has ever said Smith was an elite QB but he is a mature player who usually keeps his cool in the pocket, does well at feeling the rush, and handles pressure without becoming a turnover machine or losing his accuracy.

With Denver's offense sucking so badly, he didn't even have to play well. He just needed to do _something_. If he at any point generates one touchdown, Carolina probably wins.

Holy shit. Now I remeber why I stay mainly in the Royals/MMA thread LMAO

Yes. Yes he would. Just like Cam is. Not sure where you are going with this.

There's a transcript. Don't see or hear anything about a black community. I think there is more to that last question than whats written. I can here "tough... [inaudible]... locker room." But still nothing about race.

He left because DEN CB Chris Harris Jr. was talking shit right next to him. There was a thin little curtain that they put up to separate the winners and losers at the Super Bowl press conference. While Newton was doing his press conference, CHJ was doing his, talking all kinds of shit about how they beat the crap out of him and made him scared. He said that the gameplan was to make Cam beat them because they knew Cam couldn't. If you listen to the audio of Newton's press conference you will hear CHJ running his mouth loudly right at the end before Newton got up and walked out.

This whole thread people thought I would waver on my position on Cam being an overrated QB part of Rivera's scheme...http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-against-them/

mcaj22 02-08-2016 02:28 PM

they dared Cam Newton to throw against them because he has turds for WRs

those were the easiest WRs that Denvers secondary faced all year. Nobody on that team scared them or was imposing. None of those WRs needed to be double covered.

They are all garbage.

And you still should waver given the total body of work, but you only to raise the bar until he couldnt get over it. He is a top 5 QB in the league and only a dumbass would not part with a 1st.

Is he Wilson? Maybe, maybe not. Nobody but you gives a shit about bringing Wilson into it.

TigeRRUppeRRcut 02-08-2016 02:49 PM

Russell Wilson went to two Superbowls with garbage and a terrible offensive line. Difference is he can make plays with his feet and Cam needs Rivera to show him the way

Cam didn't live up to the MVP status and those gold shoes he was showing off. And Cam brought Wilson into the conversation when he said the league hasnt seen an African player like him play QB...

mcaj22 02-08-2016 02:52 PM

Russel Wilson had two good WRs and a HOF RB.

Cam has none of that.

TigeRRUppeRRcut 02-08-2016 02:53 PM

And I remember not too long ago when ppl said Kaepernick was headed for top five...

Both are young great ascending players. Using an Wilson as a comparison only validates how good you think Cam is. Id take either in a second.
