It's pretty clear that Tyreek was aggressively used as a decoy early in this game. Was the RB wrong to sit down as long as he did under the coverage before running fly? He's opening wide, as wide as Reek on the other side, when Smith runs out of real estate.

Was the play that resulted due to Smith being locked in to Reek being a decoy, or was it Smith being convinced that Reek would not be ready for a pass since he went out as a decoy? Who knows.

But I don't think it was a brain fart or a panic. Smith was designed to roll out right. Only the spy was tracking him down too fast, and the RB ran past coverage too late.

The RB sat down because that was probably his route. He took off when Smith scrambled.

If Smith actually were Rodgers, I can totally see everything in that play transpiring the same as it did, except Rodgers would have floated a touch pass over the coverage to the RB breaking free.

I'm not saying there weren't mistakes made, just that the mistakes weren't necessarily Alex missing how open Tyreek was, or him panicking and improvising a scramble that wasn't by design.

I like that this franchise traded a 1st round pick for Trent Green instead of using it on Drew Brees. And it also seems they F'd up trading 2 2nd round picks instead of using one on Derek Carr.

But those couple seasons where we lost a playoff game sure were awesome.
