Seriously?

OnTheWarpath15 10-31-2011 08:11 AM

TLR was leaning this way as early as August.

Live press conference.

now that LaRussa is out of the way I'm sure Terry Francona will lead you to back to back to back to back to back WS titles!

I can't wait for the 2012 St. Louis Cardinals Thread where your new manager is the dumbest manager on the planet all year long, too. (You know it'll happen)

=)

ST. LOUIS -- The Cardinals announced this morning that manager Tony La Russa has retired after 16 seasons with the Cardinals.

"Tony leaves behind a legacy of success that will always be rememered as one of the most successful eras in Cardinals history," chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. said at the announcement. "I knew this day would come. I just hoped that it wouldn't."

More throughout the day here at StlToday.com and in Tuesday's Post-Dispatch.

Told the players last night after the rally.

Any word on Duncan? I'd really hate to lose him, but I assume he'll ride off into the sunset with Tony.

epitome1170 10-31-2011 08:22 AM

Do you think this affects Pujols' decision?

OnTheWarpath15 10-31-2011 08:22 AM

Looking back, knowing he had made a decision back in August kinda explains why he was so uncharacteristically loose in the playoffs.

Nothing yet, I'm guessing he's done.

I doubt if it'll help.

Hootie 10-31-2011 08:25 AM

I honestly hope Pujols signs elsewhere, just so all of the Cardinals fans can get their wish from the Philadelphia series where they couldn't wait for LaRussa to be fired or quit and not to resign Pujols.

Sounds like the formula for future success!
