If they are going to change anything, they need to find a way to get more minorities hired on at the start of their careers, and then make sure they have the same opportunities as their white peers to progress up the coaching ladder. I'm curious what the racial makeup is for scouting/positional coaches. If there is a relatively higher percentage there than at the top, then that is a good place to look for a way to fix things long term. JMHO

Can you even imagine someone complaining that there aren't enough white players? Think of the coaches that are white, but why do all the good players gotta be black?

Or not enough white RB's?

It is just as stupid.

Any team would do what every they could to sign Mike Tomlin if he was available. You know what I mean.

Do we really think the NFL is keeping the black coach down?

There are only 32 head coaching jobs.
There are only 32 GM jobs.

It's not going to be representative of anything because its too small of a club.

The NFL should instead celebrate that one of its best coaches is black (Tomlin).

The NFL should celebrate that on of its best general managers is black (Newsome).

And tell Tony Dungy to quit bitching and start coaching if he wants more blacks roaming the sidesline. You too Herm. That dude could be a damn good coordinator but he would rather be a celebrity.

I'm so sick of this $hit.

Let me clarify. The Rooney rule was put in place because black assistant coaches were blacklisted for years. They weren't getting assistant coming jobs they deserved because of ctheir skin color. And t weren't getting job interviews. Even unbelievably qualified assistants like Dungy. He Rooney Le helped accelerate the balance. And it isn't like affirmative action because here is no quota. It's just an interview not a mandatory hire. For those who hate the Rooney rule take a look at college football where almost every head coach is white. Or nfl front offices. And no, just because David Shaw and ozzie Newsome exist doesn't mean there is Bala ce.

Bullshit. Should we make requirements that you must work out at least one white guy for all skill positions before acquiring new players as well?

houstonwhodat 01-19-2013 08:51 AM

Hey how come there are no white coaches at colleges like Grambling?

Damn racists.....

Token sterotypes...

We're white players ever blacklisted because of skin color? They were blacklisted because they weren't talented.

The Rooney rule was put in place because of discriminatory practices of the 70s and 80s.

Bottom Line a NFL Owner would hire a guy off the street if he thought they could win.

But they often hire from their network. 10 years ago, they were all white people. Tomlin would never get a head coch position and the dc would have taken ten years longer for him to get.

The NFL gets more absurd all the time.

FRCDFED 01-19-2013 09:46 AM

They own the team. They can interview/hire/pay whoever the **** they want regardless of race creed color or whatever. Again....its their ****ing team. I'm getting sick of so many people thinking others should get something they they don't earn!

After the Rooney rule. I don't understand the debate. Black coaches aren't getting college jobs. The NFL has had a ton. The rule has worked. And again, nobody forced these gms to hire black coaches. Just to interview them.
