Interestingly enough, our lanes STUNK tonight. I seriously think he double-oiled our lanes on us while not mopping the backend. Everyone else in the house said their lanes were a bit dry, but our pair of lanes were something else. The line that I used last week in thumping the owner was so wet that my ball couldn't even get to the left of the 3 pin and I was able to knock 10 pins down with my strike ball. My second game I gave up trying to bowl good and just tried to figure out what worked - I never did ended up with something like a 138 on a 194 average. The last game I put the good balls up (didn't see any need in getting them chipped in machines that were having lots of trouble tonight) and bowled with my 20+ year old urethane ball. It actually handled the oil better than the newer style equipment.
It wasn't just me, we have another guy on our team that bowls 180s that was having fits as well.
Add into the lane problems, if I don't at some point in my sleep tonight wake up my wife by yelling "BALL ON 12!" I will be surprised. No exageration, we were calling out AT LEAST 2-3 times a frame for a stuck ball on that lane - and we were missing 2 bowlers tonight and the other team was missing 1.
Oh well. The owner was snickering at us a bit, but the lane conditions tonight convinced our team that we didn't need to bother with the city tourny next weekend - at $50 a person for a 5 man team in all events, there will be a bit of profit loss on that one.
