Hmmm, LB, TE, ehh...

"McCarthy's the guy that really helped catapult my career," Gannon said. "He was the guy who really taught me the West Coast system of football. He really taught me how to prepare for a game, taught me how to watch film, how to break down an opponent, how to study. It was really those things I took with me to Oakland.

"There was never a doubt in my mind he'd be a head coach. He's a great play-caller, great working with the quarterbacks. He's a tough guy, a guy willing to do the work, and he's a leader. I think he'll do a phenomenal job."

depends... if they hire norv turner, I'm laughing my ass off until the sun goes down

if they hire ron rivera or mike singletary, I'm a bit scared (but reserved)--both are talked in NFL 'insider' circles as potential great head coach canidates who just need an opportunity to shine

rex ryan, eh, I'm not sure about that one

(fwiw, all four of those are the guys they're slated to interview according to nfl.com)

No love for Dan Reeves? I kept hearing a lot about him for the Dallas job. He has AFC West experience.

eh, I dunno-- he seems a bit too old for the job

but what do I know--I'm just an elderly black man speculating on a message board about people and things with which I haven't the slightest clue

Oh for crissakes. So you know what he meant, but you're still hung up on it? Unbelievable.

And the fact that he doesn't want to watch the Super Bowl again until he's a participant really bothers you? It's one freaking game that's usually the worst game of the year. And personally, I like that mindset. Why should he watch two other teams that beat him out play for the championship game? Screw that. I wouldn't watch the Super Bowl either if I wasn't invited to some stupid party that my wife made me go to.

He has been making those kind of stupid statements all year. He reminds me too much of Gunther I guess. Would you rather talk about whether you sit down to pee or not?

Excuse me, but Herm did not watch the Denver/SF game either. He did not watch or listen to, any of the games that had a bearing on the Chiefs making the playoffs, after KC had beat Jax.

That smells like just paycheck to me, but granted, we have limited exposure to the evidence. I know the previous three coaches would have stood on their head to watch any of those games.

He gets my vote because I think he has the best chance to fail. :D

First of all, what time do you think he got done addressing his team and then showering after his noon game? I'm guessing it was probably close to 5:00 at the earliest when he was ready to leave (or turn on the game). If he's like me, he didn't want to jinx the Niners if he knew they were winning, and he didn't want to watch if the Broncos were winning, because how sh*tty would it be to watch the donkeys celebrating a playoff appearance at your expense? Personally, I wanted no part of watching that game until it was over.

IIRC,

There were reports that Dungy did not watch the SB either, unless they were in it.
