We had the tech committe ready to roll. We had some serious I.T. talent ready to work for free.:banghead:

The thing to keep in mind, we use a LOT of bandwidth, this isn't your, I can run this at home type of server.

JUST SAY NO TO MS and SQL Server!!!!

I'm going to try and put together a fairly comprehensive survey this evening to try and gauge how people feel about the whole situation. I think that people are, generally, getting closer to being willing to "abandon ship" than we've been in the past, but I think we need to know for sure before people start trying to build something new.

Ah, is it MYSQL?

I'm just asking because I'm a DBA. If you guy ever need any help with any of the DB stuff let me know.

The damn shame is I only have residential class cable modem speed.

F'ing Verizon FIOS better make it to KC.

You'd get shut down for TOS violation the first game day.

Really, we are at a point that we almost have to have new hardware. We are low on CPU, Disk, IO and RAM. I would love to upgrade the software we have myself, but there isn't really even enough space left to do a db dump and try it.

morphius
rock and hard place.

A home cable modem would probably accept 1 post every 20 seconds....

384 upload sucks.

Yes, it is MySQL.

Ah.....

I'm sure you guys know this, but SQL Express and Oracle Express are both free now and more powerfull. Of course they both require more hardware.

Like I said, if there is anything I can do to help with the Db stuff let me know. This is the only KC board I post on anymore because I like the crowd. So it would be nice for it to work on gamedays ;)

Simplex3 11-05-2007 03:44 PM

VBulletin is MySQL based.

Simplex3 11-05-2007 03:44 PM

I'm still convinced that there are some serious efficiency issues in the code or the database somewhere. 300 simultaneous users is a lot, but it shouldn't be crashing a server.

With Patriots Planet running vb 2.2.8, I am sure there are.

Hurry up damn it. :D

I agree with Simplex sometimes it is just better to start all over.

Morph,

I am correct in assuming PatriotsPlanet runs on the same server, correct?
