Petrino called a staff meeting late Tuesday afternoon, a meeting which last about 10 seconds, sources said.

"He just said to us, 'Guys I've resigned, I'm going to Arkansas. I'm sorry. I'll be talking with you guys in the future.' And with that he turned and walked out the door. We haven't been told anything else," said one assistant coach.

At least he didn't drag it out.

Weren't there rumors the players didn't care for him or some didn't?

I think Arkansas did very well by snagging Petrino. I'll still never understand firing a coach as good as Nutt without a replacement in hand. Nebraska did that and ended up with Callahan.

I still think that's odd seeing as he got big time recruits like Brohm and Bush to go to a school like Louisville so he has to be a likeable person wouldn't you think?

Yes I would. His Louisville team I saw was damn impressive. Why doesn't anybody want Boise State's coach?

There's an all-sports radio host in ATL named Chris DiMino who also does a show here in STL.

Early in the season, it was mentioned on his show that many of the black players were upset with how Petrino tried to distance the team from the whole Michael Vick situation.

Apparently, some of those guys don't know the difference between getting your team focused for the season and "abandoning" a teammate in a "time of need."
