Good

It's hilarious that Herm is saying that Feely is entering the competition with Novak and Barth in his Q/A.

Why not cut both of these scabs and let Feely get all the kicks against the Rams to warmup?

Damn, the only way we we're ever gettin to the Super Bowl with Herm Edwards at the helm was to find a kicker who could boot 80 yard field goals, Feely is not that man......

With Feely your getting a guy whose accurate from 45 yards or less. However he gets real spotty beyond that unless he has a good wind behind him. You'll hate his kickoffs as he will routinely kick em only to the 5-10 and sometimes only the 15 yard line.

You'll also hear a lot from Feely. The guy never shuts up. Your local reporters will love him as he will always talk with them and give them quotes.

But the main thing that matters is when you need someone to kick under 45 yards he's pretty automatic.

Well there aren't that many kickers who are money from beyond 45 to begin with. And really, that's probably what we need. When it gets cold, it becomes pretty difficult to kick in Arrowhead.

And that's the key.

Any kicker outside of 45 is pretty spotty.

We haven't had a kicker around here hit from 45 routinely in a while.

Great.

Short kickoffs + bad special teams = short field to defend

And this defense isn't capable of keeping the opposition out of the EZ when they only have to go 60-65 yards instead of 80-85.

Yup he will be great there, but you also have to factor in his short kickoffs and giving teams a shorter way to go to score on you.

It got so bad between our shoddy coverage teams and his short kicks that Cameron had him squib kicking at times.

Feely confirmed the release on a local radio and in conversations with local reporters, which he called to volunteer the information. That very move is one small reason the Dolphins had Feely on a very short leash. Bill Parcells hated the fact Feeley was so media friendly.

Last season, for example, special teams assistant Keith Armstrong bemoaned the fact that in one game alone, Feely's low and short kickoffs cost the Dolphins 80 yards of field position.

Feely also hit all 26 of extra-point attempts last season, but only had eight touchbacks. That was partly due to former coach Cam Cameron instructing Feely to squib-kick because he didn't trust his coverage units.
Coverage teams were not helped by his short kicks either where the runner had 10 yards to run before anyone got down field despite the ball landing at the 10 or so.

Dear God.

Please tell me you're kidding.

He might cost us more points than he scores...

Squib kicking? Are you sure he didn't mean squid kicking? Miami is known for that pesky problem of octopi making their way onto the field.
