I'm just tired of the ragging about a complete void of talent. If I was taking over a football team I would rather have the Chiefs roster over a lot of teams.....Rams, Lions, Seahawks, Buc (yes the Bucs), 49ers, Raiders, to name a few.

Position by Position...which Current Chiefs do you think would be starters on say, the NY Giants?

First off, I spend far to much money on the Chiefs on a yearly basis to be called a fair weather fan. I think you need to learn the difference between a legitimately concerned realist, and a delusional moron who expects every player to turn into a pro bowler, as long as they wear the colors you like.

With that said, let me take a look at your evaluations...

LT Brandon Albert - Had an excellent rookie season. Could easily be a top NFL LT in the coming years. Not bad, but did get beat by some speed from time to time. I hope he can correct that.

RB Jamal Charles - had some very good moments this season. I don't believe he is an everydown RB, but he certainly could be a very good change of pass guy which every team seems to need now in the NFL.I'm a huge fan of Charles. I'm excited to see what he can do moving forward.

QB Tyler Thigpen - Ok you certainly can't be totally sold on TT, but he really had a pretty season considering his experience. He has the arm, he can add the run dimension to the QB position, and I think he is a leader. Can he learn to read defenses and be more accurate with his throws? The point is he has some real talent. With only five years of QB experience in his life he has showed me something. Tyler Thigpen will be a great backup quarterback, for us, or someone else.

TE Cottam - His opportunities where limited playing behind the greatest TE of all time, but he appears to be a pretty good blocker and showed he can catch a pass or two.I think, once we figure out that good offenses don't begin and end with the TE, and once TG is gone, Cottam will be just fine. Decent blocker...big target...exactly what an NFL TE should be.

WR Dwayne Bowe - Has all the talent and ability to be a Hall of Fame caliber WR. Needs to learn to be more focused and how to be a professional WR. If he does that, nobody will have a better WR in the NFL. Bowe is in an interesting spot in his career. After his rookie year, he was beloved, but after MANY screwups this year, as well as the oversized ego, he'd better get a lot better pretty quick, or it's going to go south for him in this town.

Defense:
CB Brandon Flowers - Had a very, very good rookie campaign at a difficult position to play with absolutely zero help from his front seven as far as QB pressure goes. This guy should be a very solid CB at worst for several years and very possibly an elite CB in the near future. Best pick in our draft. Excited to see him play for a while

CB M. Leggett - Here is a rookie FA who made an impact. One of those guys who is a football player. He will probably never be a superstar, but he certainly looks like a guy you love to have on your team. Always around the football, very good special teams guy, he just makes plays as a role player. Great football teams have guys like Leggett. Made a couple of good plays. Let's see if he can consistently do that before annointing him as a Pro Bowler

LB Derrick Johnson - He has become a very nice LB. I don't really see him becoming a superstar NFL LB, but he can play for any NFL team. Johnson is fine. He's a middle of the road OLB.

DT Glenn Dorsey - Jury is certainly out on GD. Really did not meet expectations during his rookie campaign. But, he was not horrible by any means. DT is an very tough transition to make from college to pros. How many DTs can you think of who has made a huge impact as a rookie. Added strenght, bulk, experience, and talent on the front line around him and GD could certainly become a dominate DT. I love Dorsey. Loved the pick. But I would also love to see the Chiefs go to a 3-4, which would make him obsolete. We'll see.

DE Tamba Hali - He will almost certianly never be a superstar, but he is a pretty solid DE. Again you put some better talent around him and he will make a bigger impact (Remember his impact when JA was around). He's an NFL backup DE...if that.

S Pollard/Page - A couple of young safties who have proven they can play at a pretty high level in the NFL. Again they just need some help up front so they don't have to defend receivers for 6+ seconds every pass play. Backup players on most other teams.

This team has very little talent. The holes are huge. That's not being a fair-weather fan...it's being realistic.

For the record I'm not a real fan. I can't put a finger on the day or moment I quit caring about the Chiefs... it was a while back. Call it working Sundays 3 seasons ago and not seeing any games that year. Call it watching 2 games the following year... one a horrible choke job against the Browns, the other a horrible choke job in the playoff game. Call it watching parts of 3 games this season because they quit showing the Chiefs where I live after about week 5. Call it being a baseball fan first and a passive football fan. Call it enough years of watching crap that I just don't care anymore. Call it growing up or losing my give a shit or whatever. I just really don't care anymore.

Sure I'd like to see them hire a good GM/HC, have a great draft and get good again. Sure I'd be excited if they ever win a Super-Bowl again. But I just don't care enough to invest myself in any of it emotionally anymore. If it happens great... if it doesn't oh well.

I post on here because it can be fun to talk shit and I have a few friends here. Actual real life one(s).

So go Chiefs. Or don't. Whatever.

I'm not extremely familiar with the GIANTS, but I would say B. Albert, Gonzo, D. Johnson, Bowe, maybe Flowers (I don't believe their CB are a little suspect). Interesting you picked one of the top 3 rosters in the NFL.

How many Broncos would start for the GIANTS or Seahawks, or Rams, Browns, or....? Not very many.

Update: Waters

Iowanian 12-30-2008 03:28 PM

Cowboys didn't make the Playoffs.....

how many Chiefs start on that team?
Albert isn't starting over Columbo. DJ is a bench warmer in Dallas.

Even better.....How many Current Chiefs, start in Sandy Eggo? 6-7.

Shox 12-30-2008 03:35 PM

Bowe would start on almost any NFL team except: Cards, Colts, Broncos, Saints. Maybe, Steelers, Jets.

Other than the elite team in the NFL no team is going to have double digit starters over an existing teams starters.

You think he starts ahead of either C. Johnson or Housh on Cincy, either Welker or Moss on the Patriots, either TO or R. Williams on the Cowbowys?

You might be over-valuing Bowe slightly.

You really think Bowe would start over the likes of Randy Moss and Wes Welker in New England?

Not Moss, of course not. Welker yes. Bowe #2 and Welker the slot guy. How good would Bowe be with Brady/Cassell throwing to him and the roster the Patriots have around him keeping his ego very much in check.
