OMG. If Herm is retained, I'm boycotting the Chiefs until he is gone.

I know, I know......well.....bye.

Chillax

This is true.

But it still doesn't change the fact that I wish the entire coaching staff had already been relieved of their duties.

the season has been over for TWO DAYS

Exactly.

i understand

it is troubling that apparently Clark is "open" to the idea of Herm coming back.

but it still doesn't really mean anything .... i don't think any GM is gonna want the Herm PR anchor tied around his leg in his new job.

Christ, Mort contradicts himself in the entry you seem to think is so damning.

If Clark was hell-bent on keeping Herm, do you think he would have contacted Pioli?

My God, some of you guys lack common ****ing sense, or just choose to not bother dusting it off when you believe every ****ing thing you read...

That's the catch. How in the **** he could even consider the possibility (even in "owner speak") sends shivers of Detroit down my spine.

The Bad Guy 12-31-2008 11:45 AM

If Domenik is hired, I have no doubt that Herm will stay.

I don't know how Herman Edwards convinces these owners that he's a good candidate, but if my performance evaluations as a teacher were as bad as his record, I'd be in another profession.

What if Herm stays
and you(several posters) get your boyfriend Cowher
next year

it very easily could just be Clark wanting to maintain his "hands off" image like his father.

his dad may of taught him that it's the proper way for an owner to be .... Clark may want Herm gone too.

That does suck. It shows he's loyal to the point of not seeing the forest for the trees.

But he realizes he's not an expert on football stuff which is why he is letting the new guy make the decision.

I could see that.

And I agree with the posters who have noted that Clark's approach to this whole situation is probably pretty appealing from the perspective of the new GM. Let's him know he won't have to deal with a cumbersome/nosy owner, which is a huge plus, I'm sure.

This. Also, I thought John Clayton was the NFL "specialist" at ESPN. What's happened to him? Did he have an awkward Les Nessman moment in a locker room? Mortensen gets the status because he's been a talking head longer.

The Chiefs lost what a 2nd round draft pick for tampering
when they hired VD
I'm sure Clark hasn't forgotten

exactly .......

Clark might think he is making the job MORE appealing by already deferring to the new GM about whether to fire Herm.

we really just don't know ....... and that's probably a good thing too. I don't want an owner who can't keep his mouth shut or is too stupid to not keep private stuff private.
