You look more like a rat than a bear.

In some cultures, eating food that has been touched by rats is considered a blessing from god.

It's definitely a very old name. I come across it sometimes when I'm indexing medical records. Always someone very very old. No disrepect to my grandmother, but I definitely won't be passing it along.

Oh, and those Hey Vern commercials were big about the time I was in high school. Vern kind of became a funny nickname for a very short amount of time.

You really told people what your middle name was? I would've been quiet about that one.

First: Named in honor of my maternal grandmother's late second husband's surname.
Middle: Taken from my paternal great-grandfather's middle name.

My father and his father (to an extent), my first cousin-once removed and his father and grandfather, and I, all go by our middle names.

Some chick came over to our table the other night at the bar and introduced herself. She said her name was Beverly, and I was making fun of her calling her a lying and deceitful old shrew. Turns out she showed her ID to us and she was a 23 year old Beverly. I was in quandary and needless to say didn't get to bang her.

With my brother and I both, they thought we were going to be girls. They had picked out the first name Valerie if we were. That is until my aunt pointed out that with our last name, our initials would be VD.

My dad also liked the name Thaddeus. Until the same aunt said, "You might as well call the kid, 'Thud.'"

So that one went out with the bathwater.
