Why would Shanny want to coach a hapless team with no QB,WR, OL, or RB that hasn't sniffed a SB in 40 years; a team that is now worse than the AZ Cardinals?

Seriously though, I don't want Shanny anywhere near the AFC West. The guy is like Phil Jackson: give him talent to coach and he can win rings.
If he can stand JerryJones Shanny will be a Cowboy next year.

He took a team with Jake Plumber as the QB to the AFC Championship game. Thats like riding a sheep in the Kentucky Derby and coming in second.

The guy can scheme up offenses. If he gets a team that has a defense he will get back to the SB.

The fact he signed
$Jake Plummer$ in the first place
kind of knocks the shine off

I know where you are coming from. Still, if you look at Plummer's won-loss record it is around 3rd or 4th best in the NFL during his time as a Bronco.

Shanny is always trying to win and not afraid to make changes. I liked that in him.

[QUOTE]With Shanahan, the Chiefs could actually get their money’s worth out of LJ's $45 million contract. /QUOTE]

Most provocative statement of the article. I know the rest of the idea sounds ridiculous but Shanny really is a great one, and remember job one of coming to competitiveness: competing in your division. Just ask the Bolts. They didn't compete anywhere this season but in the AFC West and that was enough. The Rat may be able to write a good immediate future for the Chiefs in the AFC West.

I fear LJ has already written his ticket out of KC by now, but he would absolutely salivate for the run schemes that Shanahan has devised.

Bolen is going to learn the same thing about coaches that I thought he had learned about quarterbacks since Elway: great ones are few and far between. Here is a prediction to gnaw on: Shanahan will get another team to the playoffs before the Broncos return to them.

Draft a young QB, and sign a veteran to run the show for a year or so
Warner,Garcia,Kerry Collins
unless Mcnabb is available then we take him.

This is the lamest knock on the guy out there.

What coach has won a SB without a star players? Specifically QB.

Tom Coughlin - Eli Manning (1st overall pick)
Bill Cowher - Ben Rothlisberger (1st round pick)
Tony Dungy - Peyton Manning
Bill Belichick - Tom Brady (Note: no Tom, no playoffs)

So I guess props to Brian Billick with Dilfer.

... At least Shanahan knows you have to have that QB to win it an actively goes to to try to find that guy.
