And a couple of my recent posts. I'm afraid that putting smilies with them will dilute their impact ... but then lots of folks just totally miss the point and I get lots of :shake: BS.

This place has really lost its burst. No joke.

When I read something stupid on the board, I look over at the avatar and have one of two reactions:

1) Geez, I should have know it is xxxxxx. Dude is absolutely clueless.

2) LMAO yyyyy is at it again.

It's not really very hard to figure out which posters belong in group 1 and in group 2. Adding a smiley to your sarcasm is like adding a laugh track to you sitcom. Just say no.

The gist of this article "Initially" is that we have refused permission at least once for Cunningham to speak w det about their vacant D.C. Position.

That in and of itself looks bad for those who wish herm fired asap.

People like me, and you.

The truth is no matter how well thought of Pioli is....if Gunther Cunningham and Herm Edwards are any part of the Chiefs next year this city from this forum to casual fan is going to be really pissed and say Pioli blows.

Pats fans were pissed when Belichick was hired. He was considered a failure, a retread and overly conservative.

Now, I do not make the comparison to suggest that Herm will ever be the caliber of coach that Belichick is.

I merely point out that Pioli comes from a franchise that doesn't care what the fans think. Remember the outcry from the cutting of Lawyer Milloy?

If Pioli wants to bring Herm back for whatever reason, he won't worry about the fans initial reaction. He knows that winning cures all.

Just go ahead and admit you love Herm and move on.

I'm not going to knock on the guy for a long long time, and hope I never have to, but I'd love a logical explanation on this one....

I mean, it's lousy ass Gunther, for Christ's sakes...

Ok, for the life of me I couldn't figure it out.

But now I get it, the article was pretty much BS.

See ya Gunther !!

Extra Point 01-21-2009 11:02 AM

What would the FO have done, fired Cunningham, for having interviewed elsewhere? The Chiefs FO let go of the tether last week for Preifer and Gibbs, and did so with Gun on or before Monday.

Good luck, Gun. Your work with the self-appointed defensive guru, that looked over your shoulder at every turn, is done. Your time here had come and gone. Hope you find this message on the internet. (Wink, wink. Nudge, nudge.)

bringbackmarty 01-21-2009 11:04 AM

Yeah I didn't think it made much sense for us to refuse permission. Maybe they asked to interview him before we were eliminated from the playoffs in week 6, or whatever.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) - New Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz made his first major staff hire Wednesday, bringing in veteran assistant Gunther Cunningham as defensive coordinator.

The two previously worked together as assistants on Jeff Fisher's staff in Tennessee. Schwartz was defensive coordinator under Fisher this past season, when the Titans posted an NFL-best 13-3 record with a defense that ranked second in points allowed.

Cunningham, a 40-year coaching veteran on the college and pro levels, was Kansas City's head coach from 1999-2000 and the Chiefs' defensive coordinator in 1995-98 and from 2004 through this past season.

He'll set about trying to fix one of the league's worst defenses, one of the big reasons Detroit didn't win a game last season.

Terms of his contract were not disclosed.
