Nobody's saying losing is OK, I don't get where this generalization comes from.

You, and others are missing the point.

Yes, he played a phenomenal game. I realize that, and even respect it.

But the team lost. Period.

The generalization comes from years of BS excuse making for the average/below average QB's we've had following Lenny.

People act like Trent Green was robbed of a few SB rings because the defense was so shitty. He was a slightly above average QB who put up numbers, but when things were on the line, often threw the big INT or came up short. And this is coming from one of the biggest TG fans on the planet - I've played against him in HS, and spoken to him on several occasions, and you won't meet a greater guy.

A similar argument is made for Thigpen. You know how it goes, "all he needs is A, B, C, D, E, F and G for him to succeed." "It's not his fault."

The great one's don't need excuses made for them, they go out and put a team on their shoulders and make it happen.

Like I said before, the QB is the most important position on the field, and the responsibility they carry is like no other. They get all the glory when the team wins, and take the heat when the team loses. Just the way it is.

Winning > individual statistics.

Please explain how he could have "gone out and put the team on his shoulders and make it happen" anymore in that game?

The name on the back of his jersey wasn't Sanchez, that's all.

He's no dirty sanchez. :deevee:

It you give Thigpen 4 years of sitting by Tom Brady, and getting New England coaching, he would be remarkably like Cassel. They play a very similar style to scrappy, scrambling QB like Jeff Garcia.

I guess scoring 13 points in the 1st half and coming away with 6 points on 3 different drives inside the 30 was all he could muster?

10 completions out of 20 attempts in the 1st half.

Listen, he played a great 2nd half, but let's not act like he was perfect in that game just because he had a great overall stat line.

If even ONE of those failed RZ drives is a TD instead of a FG (or a turnover, as was the case once) the game never GETS to OT.

And if Roethlisberger has a second half like Cassel had, he is a winner, gritty, and clutch. Doesn't matter if HE sucks ass the rest of the game.

Keep clinging to that.

This isn't even a knock at Cassel, but you guys are intent on making it that way.

This is about a fanbase that is OK with losing as long as some flashy numbers are put up.

It's been that way since DV was here.

Forgive me for feeling that winning is the only thing that matters.
