Yeah, I'm the same way. The thread poses a great question, and it also causes great internal conflict.
I voted for McDaniels, because he took a team that had some up and coming stars and traded them all away and then traded a first-round draft pick away and generally had no concept of managing a team. There may have been some potential for redemption on the field, but he wasn't headed that direction yet, and his apparent skill in driving away his most talented players overrode it.
Herm took a team that was still strong, but it was definitely headed downward with retirements and stuff, so it was going down anyway. Herm just took it past the basement and then kept digging. His philosophy was horrible and his game-day management was horrible, and he was killing the team with it, but at the same time it does appear that he brought something to the table on draft day. With him, though, there was no potential for redemption since he was so bad at managing talent.
The bottom line is that both are absolute disasters, but Herm ruined a team that was already declining, whereas McDaniels ruined a team that should've been okay.
