Gotta' agree with you here. To each his own but......

And I would add- I really don't like the way they ride-their suspension sucks-you feel every bump in the road.

Are you referring to this model or MBs in general? Every Benz I've been in has felt like it had an amazing suspension.

MB touring sedan is the smoothest riding car in the world. You can set a glass of wine on the seat and not spill a drop.

I know people, in their obituaries they put that they drove a Mercedes Benz and have the years they drove it, BEFORE THEIR MILITARY SERVICE.

I looked at the Miata and the S2000.

Miata SE - $23K, 23/27MPG
S2000 - $32K, 18/24 MPG

So, it's a slightly larger car, but I'm paying $10K more to get worse gas mileage?

I went with the Miata.

Uh, Miata - 160 hp, 15 sec quarter mile
S2000 - 240 hp, 13 second quarter mile

Well to be fair the 2.2L 04+ s2000 has about 255-260 HP stock. Neither are really drag cars, they are more road race cars. The advantage of the miata is that it weights ~400lbs less than the s2000, but the s2k is tighter and better tuned suspension wise stock. The miata parts are dirt cheap though if you stuff it tracking it. But ultimately the s2000 comes more track ready from the factory, and the engine has more NA potential than the mazda ones. Right now I'm pushing 250-260 to the wheels which is likely 300+ at the crank.

Silock 08-12-2011 03:09 PM

Horsepower is the same between all model years of the S2000. The difference in the engines is down to a slightly different low-end torque curve and lower redline on the AP2. The F20C and the F22C produce the same 240 (237, really) hp.

I'm just saying that it's not just a matter of gas mileage. The S2000 is significantly more powerful and faster than the Miata.

Not a clue.

Personally, I suspect it's projection by guys who're secretly questioning their own sexual preferences.

LMAO keep telling yourself that.

Though Miatas turn on a dime, they SCREAM homo. The only thing more gay than a dude driving a Miata is 4 meat-heads driving a red Mustang Convertible.

Purchase price is just the beginning.

That's what I'm finding out. Obviously the high maintenance costs affect the value of used ones, the low price raised red flags right away to me.

I've HEARD that that was a bad era for MB, quality wise. That came from BMW/Porsche technicians to take it for what it's worth.
