Most franchises have their QB situation figured out at least in the short term. There aren't many opportunities for teams to turn to 5th round rookies midseason.

But if you want examples, I think the last one would be Max Hall taking over for Derek Anderson in Arizona. Before that it might just be Trent Edwards in Buffalo.

While I don't want to see Cassel get injured I really hope that Haley has the balls to bench him (regardless of Cassel's payroll, or Pioli's opinion) to see what Stanzi has if we are headed into week 5 and 0-4, which given last Sunday's performance is very likely. Especially if Cassel hasn't shown he can carry this team on his shoulders. I want a QB that can will his offense down the field in a pinch. That is the type of QB that wins playoff games and Super Bowls. Cassel hasn't and IMO will never prove to have that ability. Give Stanzi a chance in a few weeks (This way Zorn can get him ready) and see what happens.
