Smith played really well before he was injured. The players that give you the best chance of winning should be playing. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see what happens when Colin Kaepernick faces some tough defenses in the playoffs.

It is a risk; of course, when elite defenses shut down the 49ers running attack, puts the game in Kaepernick’s hands, and forces him to stay in the pocket. The Giants defense did just that a few weeks ago when they shut down Alex Smith, Kaepernick and their running game.

SF traded up to get Kaepernick in the draft after failing to sign Peyton Manning, so he is their guy. Would Kaepernick make this team better than 6-2? I have a hard time believing that elite defenses will not confuse him when it matters most.

Smith was 20 wins; four loses before injured as a starter. Named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Arizona in Week 8, where he set a record completion percentage. Smith may not be the greatest quarterback; however, he had his team winning.

Kaepernick is a rookie and that alone could spell trouble when facing the 'hot' team in January. However, Harbaugh can always switch back to Smith - I guess.

In his dreams, Dave. The man is gone - He cannot survive the power of the fans and the onslaught of bad press.

It would not surprise me to see Pioli working as an analyst on ESPN next season. After all, who in their right mind would hire this man to run their team? Not saying, he will not get another chance in a few years - just not right now.

...And to all, Happy Thanksgiving!

The 9ers were never going to a SB with Alex Smith.
With Harbaugh coaching him, he has become an efficient game manager.

Kaepernick is a more dynamic and diverse playmaker with a far higher ceiling.

The 9ers might suffer through the growing pains that a first year starter (2nd year player, not a rookie) goes through, but woll be better long term if he works out.

Dumbasses.

Some dumbasses said that about Casshole too. Defended his little punk ass starting the day he was traded to KC, and were proven to be the absolute ****ing dumbasses that they are.

Kaepernick was the 4th pick in the 2nd round of the 2011 draft. 1 pick behind Andy Dalton, and exactly 10 picks behind our 1st round pick of Jon Baldwin.

It appears we may have been ****ed by the infamous 27-7 stat from the 2010 season once more!

Deberg_1990 11-27-2012 07:43 AM

Harbaugh still saying that Smith is is starting QB. WTF???

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/86...ng-qb-mid-week

Kaepernick said he was told late Saturday in a team meeting ahead of Sunday's start against the Saints.

Then, on Monday, Harbaugh offered this for thought: Yes, he's keeping everybody guessing again. Sort of.

"Alex Smith is our starting quarterback. He has not done anything to lose that job," Harbaugh said. "In fact, he's playing at a very high level. Also, Colin Kaepernick, you can't categorize him as a backup quarterback, because he's started games and played very well in those games."

Harbaugh probably just doesn't want Smith to lose his confidence.

OK, we're maybe going to get Geno Smith. If ever that guy becomes a top 5 QB in this league, Cassell might just have been a blessing in disguise for this franchise.

Garcia Bronco 11-27-2012 09:38 AM

After watching and following the 9ers over the past 3 years....Alex Smith is not a good QB. He can't throw down field all that well to the point that when a downfield pass does get completed that you feel like it was complete luck. This kid they've put in is much better.
