We replaced Cassel, the worst QB in the league last year with Alex Smith who was leading his team to a SB and has been solid the last two year and the BEST QB available.

Then we replaced Albert who was above average with a questionable future back issue that would cost us 9 mil with a more talented Eric Fisher that can anchor the line for the next 10 years and is young.

Then, assuming we trade Albert we pick up a playmaker or QBOTF with the free 2nd we have.

Yeah, that's a good way to look at it.

He could also look at it like this:

We use the 1.1 on the best QB available, Alex Smith. (I understand that some may disagree)

We trade Branden Albert, our 2nd, and a 2014 conditional pick to get younger and cheaper at the position and increase the potential ceiling. In return, we get the Dolphins 2nd (whichever one it is), enough cap space to buy another free agent, and the ability to use the franchise tag on someone else next year.

Or you could look at it that we traded for another 49ers backup QB that wasn't good enough for them to start or keep, and continued our 30 year run of pissing ourselves when it comes to QB's.

You've got to be willing to reach for the most important position on the team in order to achieve greatness. Sometimes you've got to take a chance for a change after 30 years. Too risky isn't an excuse.

who the **** said anything about reaching for anybody? jesus christ, you bringing geno into this AGAIN? you're as bad as the genoites.

my comment was purely on the value of alex smith. what you typed was exactly the type of analysis we get from this fanbase after every ****ing move. IT'S GREAT, IT'S AMAZING, EVEN THOUGH WE HATED IT BEFORE WE'LL RATIONALIZE THE SHIT OUT OF IT!

exactly the reason we keep getting fed shitburgers. we're content with them. THEY TASTE GOOD!

but go ahead and make this about geno smith instead of ****ing alex smith, please.

there's a big difference between reaching in the draft and reaching for a guy that's proven he's not good enough for the NFL.
